In 2010, the whole province had no communes reaching more than 14 criteria, and 67 out of 166 communes only reached from 2 to 5 criteria. Up to now, 77 communes have met the new-style standards, accounting for 46.4 percent. Compared to 2010, the provincial criteria average per commune reached 6 criteria, so far they have increased to 15.62 criteria per commune; all communes reached more than 9 criteria; The average income per capita in rural areas is about 45 million VND per year.

Particularly, communes with advanced new-style rural standards, it is expected that Hoa Phu commune (in Chau Thanh district) and Phuoc Hau (in Can Giuoc district) will meet the advanced new-style rural standards by the end of 2019. Up to now, the province has verified and completed the dossier and submitted it to the Central Government for appraisal and recognition of Chau Thanh district meeting the new-style rural standards and Tan An city to complete the task of new-style rural construction.

School facilities are spacious, contributing to perfecting criteria in building new-style rural 

In the period of 2011-2019, the whole province mobilized over 123,000 billion VND for building new-style rural. Of which, central budget capital directly supported 999.7 billion VND; provincial budget capital was 573 billion VND; credit capital was over 103,600 billion VND; and so on. From this funding source, the whole province invested in building infrastructure, implemented poverty reduction, raised income for people, and so on to change the rural appearance better day by day.

However, the quality of agricultural growth and competitiveness of many agricultural products were not high; rural income increased, but it was still low; environmental pollution in rural areas was still complicated; investment resources mobilized for agriculture and rural still faced many difficulties; etc.

At the conference, representatives of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the provincial Vietnam Women's Union, the Department of Transport, districts of Chau Thanh, Tan Thanh, Can Duoc, etc. also shared the best doings and contributed to implementing the National Target Program for building new-style rural.

In the coming time, the new-style rural construction in the province should continue to improve the material and spiritual life of rural people so that it is close to urban areas; focusing on production linkages, establishing cooperatives, producing in link chains, and so on. It is necessary to promote the propaganda, mobilize the people’s participation; sectors and levels join hands to build new-style rural; replicate the models of associations and unions; and so on.

In particular, those communes that have achieved the new-style rural standards will strive to improve the quality of criteria, aiming at improving the new-style rural construction; increasing the districts meeting new-style rural standards, and so on.
