Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee - Tran Van Can proposed to be funded to complete the project (Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section)

Long An province distrained and compensated for site clearance for the section through the province. However, according to Resolution No.11/NQ-CP of the Government, the Ministry of Transport postponed implementation and stopped compensation for local people.

Voters disagreed on this decision and repeatedly petitioned deputies of the National Assembly as well as the provincial and district People's Council.

At the meeting with the Minister of Transport, Chairman Can proposed to allocate site clearance costs for local people and provide medium-term capital in the period of 2021 - 2025 to complete and put into use the road before 2023.

This project promotes investment efficiency, uses completed transport infrastructure works, contributes to socio-economic development and ensures security and defense for the region.

The Ho Chi Minh Highway (Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section) runs through Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Long An provinces. The section passing through Long An province is around 20km long.

The project was approved in accordance with Decision No.3950/QĐ-BGTVT, dated December 17, 2007 of the Ministry of Transport.

This inter-regional project connects the Central Highlands with the Mekong Delta provinces through the Southeast region, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development, security and defense of Long An province as well as relevant localities./.
