The national park stretches through the communes of Thanh Cong, Quang Thanh, Phan Thanh, and Hung Dao and the town of Tinh Tuc in Nguyen Binh district. The park has a total area of over 10,500ha, with its highest peak at nearly 2,000 meters above sea level. The Phia Oac - Phia Den National Park boasts fantastic natural and wild scenery.

The park preserves a virgin forest ecosystem in the high mountains and is home to nearly 2,000 species of rare animals and plants with many species listed in the world Red Book.

It is the first recognised national park of Cao Bang province and is expected to play an important role in preserving and promoting the sustainable development of the mountain forest ecosystem, aligned with boosting the local socio-economic development, security and defence.

"With this title, Cao Bang expects to preserve and foster the sustainable development of the Phia Oac - Phia Den National Park in accordance with the national strategy for forestry development", said the Vice Chairman of Cao Bang provincial People's Committee.

The Phia Oac - Phia Den National Park is located in the system of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, which has recently been recognised as a new member of the UNESCO Global Network of National Geoparks./.
