The province’s tourism resources currently include Ba Den mountain - “the roof of the South”, the gentle Vam Co Dong river and vast forests containing many stories from the wars.

Tay Ninh currently has a favorable geographical location due to the connection between Tan Son Nhat International Airport (HCMC) and its adjacency to the Kingdom of Cambodia, further increasing the advantage of attracting international visitors and developing border trade and services.

Talking about the advantages of tourism when merging provinces, Chairman of Tay Ninh Province Tourism Association - Ngo Tran Ngoc Quoc said: “The biggest advantage that the province merger brings to the tourism sector is the resonance and diversification of tourism resources, while expanding the space for regional connectivity.

Tay Ninh province is now prominent with spiritual tourism, eco-tourism, cultural tourism, entertainment tourism, sports tourism, etc. The merger helps to form a diverse product chain, increase experiences, extend the staying time and increase spending of tourists.”

Specifically, the province owns 223 ranked historical relics (including 1 special national relic) and 14 unique intangible cultural heritages such as the art of Chhay-dam drum dance, mat weaving, vegetarian food processing art, the festival of Linh Son Thanh Mau on the top of Ba Den Mountain, etc. The unique culture of the local community and the hospitality and simplicity of the people are also highlights of the province's tourism.

Along with that, nature also bestows on Tay Ninh the poetic Ma Thien Lanh Lake, the vast forests in Lo Go - Xa Mat National Park and Dong Thap Muoi region, and the Vam Co Dong River, which are closely associated with the history and culture of the locality.

In addition, the province also owns many tourist areas, safaris, amusement parks and golf courses designed to be of high quality, which are venues for international tournaments, and are also ideal resorts for golfers from Korea, China, Taiwan (China), Japan, etc.

The province can develop many different product groups, such as spiritual, cultural, historical tourism; eco-tourism, agriculture, resorts, health care, entertainment, sports; waterway tourism on the Vam Co Dong River and tourism on the border belt; etc.

The new Tay Ninh is like a green tourist strip, where visitors can go to Ba Den Mountain in the morning, enjoy the peaceful and majestic natural landscape, stop at noon to enjoy vegetarian dishes or Trang Bang rice paper, and take a boat trip on the Vam Co Dong River and rest in high-class entertainment and resort areas in the afternoon.

Exploiting potential

According to the assessment of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism, tourism in Tay Ninh province still has a lot of potential for development. Therefore, the development program will aim at two main goals: promoting the brand, increasing local recognition and creating many unique and specific tourism products that can extend the time of tourists' activities in the locality.

Based on the master plan of Tay Ninh province (old) and Long An province (old), after the two provinces were merged, with the role of a state management advisory agency on tourism, the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism is urgently reviewing to advise on adjusting the planning related to the tourism sector with a focus on orienting the development of tourism space based on potential to best promote available advantages and suit the actual situation.

“With the goal of attracting and retaining tourists, the tourism industry of Tay Ninh province will proactively rely on existing tourist routes to plan and build more destinations with rich and diverse activities, a continuous and closed tourism corridor, in order to develop accommodation, culinary and commercial services” - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism - Tran Thi Huy Hoang affirmed.

Accordingly, Tay Ninh plans to prioritize investment in developing the Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area into a unique tourist area; preserving and exploiting, promoting the cultural values ​​of relics and heritages associated with sustainable tourism development; exploiting the unique flooded ecosystem combined with riverside landscapes, fields and gardens to organize recreational activities, rustic cuisine, both attracting tourists and developing riverside tourism.

In order to create a foundation for future development, the participation of the government, businesses and the community is needed. In particular, reforming administrative procedures, calling for socialization and encouraging and attracting businesses to invest in tourism service infrastructure; developing technical infrastructure, modern and synchronous tourism services such as digital applications to help tourists easily access information, book tickets, services or build information centers, guides, bilingual, easy-to-understand signs at tourist destinations, etc. are being implemented and will continue to be promoted in the coming time.

In addition, connecting destinations inside and outside the province; coordinating the organization of famtrips, fairs, investment promotion and strengthening regional and international connections are also effective ways to promote and develop provincial tourism. Accompanying the government, the Provincial Tourism Association also identified the key tasks in the coming time as organizing forums to link inter-provincial tourism development, connecting businesses; developing waterway tourism products on the Vam Co Dong River, border caravan tours, agricultural - ecological experiences; promoting destination promotion on digital platforms, targeting domestic and international markets; training to improve service quality; encouraging local communities to participate in tourism, contributing to preserving identity and creating livelihoods.
