On March 20, the Binh Duong provincial Youth Union, in collaboration with the Binh Phuoc provincial Youth Union and the Management Board of Song Be - Binh Duong - Binh Phuoc Youth Union officials’ club, hosted a meeting at the historical relic site of Vinh Loi resistant base in Tan Uyen town (Binh Duong province) to celebrate the 88th anniversary of the founding of the HCMCYU. Former President Nguyen Minh Triet attended the event.
The delegates offered incense and flowers at the Martyrs Memorial Temple at Vinh Loi Relic Area and attended a special programme hounouring the traditions of the HCMCYU.
At the event, outstanding local Youth Union officials were honoured for their contribution over the past years. They were also granted with the "For the Young Generation" Medal, while winners of the Binh Duong Outstanding Youth Union’s Officials Award and Binh Duong Young Talent Award 2019 were also announced.
On the occasion, Binh Duong provincial Youth Union awarded 20 scholarships, each worth VND2 million for children of local Youth Union cadres with outstanding academic achievements in the 2018-2019 school year.
* A similar event was also held in the northern port city of Hai Phong on Wednesday, in which 50 outstanding local Youth Union secretaries were honoured for their contributions to the youth movements in the city.
On the occasion, Hai Phong Children's Cultural Palace was honoured with the first-class Labour Order.
* Also on March 20, a delegation of outstanding and prospective Vietnamese young talents of 2018 offered incense and paid tribute to national founders the Hung Kings at Hung Kings’ Temple in Phu Tho province. Later the same day, they exchanged with the local Youth Union members, helping to spreading the good values and outstanding achievements of the young Vietnamese talents of 2018 to the local community.
* According to the HCM City’s Youth Union, the agency has selected eight typical and effective models, among 60 nominated ones, on local Youth Union operations and children and youth movements to receive the Ho Hao Hon Award – a noble award named after the martyr Ho Hao Hon, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, the first Secretary of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Youth Union (now HCM City’s Youth Union). Over the past 17 years, the award has been presented to 101 collectives and 44 outstanding individuals./.
