Winners of writing contest on exemplary models honoured

Winners of the ninth ‘Simple and Noble Examples’ writing contest were honoured at a ceremony held in Hanoi on June 8.

The event was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Commission for Communication and Education, Vo Van Thuong, and Politburo member and National Assembly Standing Vice Chairwoman, Tong Thi Phong.

Dang Thu Ha from the People’s Army Newspaper won the first prize for an article on three teachers working in the northern mountainous areas. Two second, three third and 15 consolation prizes were also presented on the occasion.

The awards ceremony featured reports on individuals and collectives who submitted outstanding entries to the contest, as well as talks with the winning authors on their articles.

On the occasion, Politburo member Vo Van Thuong presented a Certificate of Merit of the PCC Commission for Communication and Education to the People’s Army Newspaper for the newspaper's contribution to the organisation of the contest for the past ten years.

The articles helped to demonstrate exemplary models and promote the studying and following of the thoughts, morals, and style of President Ho Chi Minh.

The contest is aimed at encouraging professional and amateur writers to promptly discover and honour ordinary people throughout the country whose good deeds have quietly contributed to the national construction and development.

Also on June 8, a wide range of activities were held in Hanoi and the provinces of Binh Duong, Quang Tri, Son La, and Nam Dinh to honour collectives and individuals who recorded outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement./.
