Director of Long An Department of Industry and Trade - Nguyen Tuan Thanh said that in 2023, the industry's common goal is to organize, implement and carry out tasks assigned by the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Department will focus on leading the implementation of the Action Program of the Provincial People's Committee under the motto "Solidarity, discipline, flexible bravery, innovation, timely efficiency". Accordingly, the sector unites, makes efforts and determination to successfully implement the assigned plans, targets and tasks. In particular, the Industry and Trade sector will contribute to the economic growth rate (GRDP) 8 - 8.5%, in which, the agriculture - forestry - fishery sector to increase by 2-2.5%; the industry - construction sector to increase by 11 - 11.5%; the trade - service sector to increase by 6 - 6.5%; industrial production index to increase by 9.5%; total retail sales of goods and services to reach 109,200 billion dong, up 6.5%; export turnover to reach 7.1 billion USD, an increase of 5.97%; import turnover to reach 5.4 billion USD, an increase of 5.88%; households using electricity to reach 99.97%.

At the same time, the Industry and Trade sector has set many targets for infrastructure development. Regarding industrial infrastructure, the industry focuses on monitoring, urging and supporting industrial clusters to complete infrastructure eligible to receive secondary investors; strives to have 2 more industrial clusters put into operation in 2023. Regarding energy infrastructure, the industry continues to review, propose, urge and support to accelerate investment in power projects according to the capital allocation plan of the Electricity industry; strive to remove 2,500 households of auxiliary electricity. Regarding commercial infrastructure, the promotion industry attracts investment in markets and supermarkets; in which, focusing on inviting investors in Go and Co.opmart supermarkets in districts, towns and cities. In 2023, the industry strives to develop at least 10 convenience stores (San Ha, Co.op Food, Bach Hoa Xanh, Winmart, The Gioi Di Dong, Dien May Xanh, etc); attract and invest in at least 1 logistics center project according to the approved planning.

The Industry and Trade sector sets the target of total revenue and payment of 2.1 billion VND to submit to the state budget; effectively implement plans, projects, and trade promotion programs approved in 2023, ensuring support for the right purposes, regimes, policies and beneficiaries in order to promote businesses, cooperatives and production facilities in the province. The industry strives to use the support budget to achieve the plan in 2023 (1.35 billion VND for local industrial promotion;  2.7 billion VND for trade promotion and supporting industry).

Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Nguyen Tuan Thanh said that although the Covid-19 epidemic was well controlled, the industry are still implementing the prevention and control of epidemics in the new period; strengthening propaganda to raise awareness of epidemic prevention and control, absolutely not being subjective before epidemics; implementing the Plan No. 906, dated March 24, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee on implementation of the Government's Resolution No. 11, dated January 30, 2022 on Socio-economic recovery and development program; promptly advising to remove difficulties and obstacles in mechanisms and policies to further accelerate economic recovery and development.

In particular, the Industry and Trade sector focuses on effectively implementing the key tasks of the industry; at the same time, coordinating in implementing breakthrough programs and key projects according to the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, especially coordinating to complete the Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 (including an integrated formulation of the planning for the development of the power supply network, the plan for the development of the industrial zones, the planning for the development of trade and logistics) and implement upon approval; continue to implement approved projects and plans, specifically, the project on border economic development associated with national defense and security assurance in the province to 2025, orientation to 2035; Topics Strategy for the consumption of key agricultural products of the province; Environmental industry development scheme to 2020, vision to 2030; Plans and measures to prevent and respond to chemical incidents; etc.

In addition, the Industry and Trade sector promotes economic restructuring in association with the growth model, improving productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the provincial economy. The industry cooperates to implement solutions to enhance the value of agricultural products by focusing on attracting and participating in investment promotion and developing the processing industry of agro-forestry-fishery products; reduce raw and preliminary processing, increase the proportion of processed agricultural products with high value. The role of "bridge", introducing and linking production and consumption cooperation, especially cooperation with provinces and Ho Chi Minh City continues to be promoted to enhance the consumption of agricultural products; focus on developing the supply chain of clean and safe agricultural products, OCOP products into modern distribution channels; organize events to introduce agricultural products of the province.

The Industry and Trade sector also focuses on developing and restructuring the industry, attracting and supporting key investment projects, attracting high-tech industries, supporting industries,etc, to strongly develop industrial production in depth, promote structural transformation in the direction of increasing the proportion of processing and manufacturing industries. At the same time, the industry attracts the development of supporting industries and processing industries (deep processing of agricultural and aquatic products such as canning, juice, drying); give priority to attracting high-tech industry, clean energy industry; implement the Program on development of supporting industries in the province in the period of 2018-2025; create favorable conditions to promote linkages in the development of production and consumption of industrial products to support the formation of a stable and sustainable production and supply chain.

The Industry and Trade sector also promotes investment in developing modern commercial infrastructure, port services, border gates, logistics, etc, thereby, continues to invite investment in development of commercial infrastructure, transportation services and logistics according to the approved provincial planning; creating a driving force for the development of civilized and modern commercial forms, meeting the requirements of economic development; consolidating and promoting the role of traditional distribution channels, serving the people's daily life; implement the Action Plan to improve competitiveness and develop logistics services in Vietnam by 2025; support Long An International Port to operate effectively, put more wharf into operation; encourage the development of 4.0 market, non-cash payment at the market.

The Industry and Trade sector focuses on rapidly developing a synchronous and modern infrastructure system; promote regional linkages; focus on improving the investment and business environment; improve provincial competitiveness. The industry will innovate and improve the efficiency of trade promotion and support businesses to join new consumption markets, especially fastidious markets in order to diversify export markets; focus on building trademarks and product brands; support enterprises in research and development of high value production in order to diversify export products and actively participate in the global value chain, ensuring effective annual export growth; continue to implement the project on developing the domestic market in association with the campaign "Vietnamese prioritizes Vietnamese goods" in the 2021-2025 period and in the new situation; manage, exploit and use effectively and sustainably natural resources; protect the living environment; proactively and effectively respond to climate change, natural disaster prevention, control and mitigation; step up construction work, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management./.
