Continue to promote relic preservation and tourism development

On August 9, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Long An province held a conference to review the work of preserving, embellishing and promoting the value of historical and cultural relics associated with tourism development in the first 6 months of 2024.

With 126 relics, including 21 national relics, Long An has a large resource for educating historical and cultural traditions and attracting tourists.

In order to effectively preserve and promote the value of historical and cultural relics in the province in association with tourism development, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism proactively developed a joint plan with the Department of Education and Training and the Provincial Youth Union.

After more than 6 months of implementation, the work of preserving, restoring and promoting the value of historical and cultural relics in association with tourism development has made many improvements: The system of historical and cultural relics in the province has been restored and embellished with socialized funding of about more than 100 billion VND; Historical and cultural relics are promoted in the media, included in school education programs, contributing to ntroduce of the image of people and tourism potential of Long An.

In the first 6 months of the year, there were 123 delegations with more than 21,000 visitors to the museum, library, relics and cultural sites directly managed by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, mainly union members, youth, students. In the whole province, there were more than 67,000 students, union members and youth coming to conduct extracurricular activities, visit and experience at historical and cultural relics.

The work of preserving historical and cultural relics has also improved. Since the beginning of the year, more than 123,000 students and union members have participated in preserving, cleaning, maintaining facilities, and planting trees at historical and cultural relics.

In addition to these results, there are still some limitations such as services at relic sites that have not fully met the needs of tourists; traffic infrastructure is not yet synchronized; etc.

Speaking at the conference, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - Nguyen Thanh Thanh emphasized the importance of historical and cultural relics in attracting tourists and educating traditions.

He called on businesses to continue to improve and enhance the quality of services, maintain close coordination between organizations and units to promote tourism development associated with historical and cultural relic sites in the province./.
