Put agricultural products on e-commerce platforms
Realizing that e-commerce platforms are the solution for local agricultural products to reach domestic and foreign consumers, Long An province's functional departments have made efforts to implement many solutions to take advantage of them.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in the past time, the Department has supported a number of processed agricultural products such as dried dragon fruit, dried sweet potatoes, fermented bean curd, sausage, various fish sauces, etc to enter domestic e-commerce platforms such as Voso, buudien, Sendo, Shopee, Lazada, etc. At the same time, the Department has supported 15 enterprises to bring the province's key agricultural products such as rice, lime, dragon fruit, banana, etc to the international e-commerce platform Alibaba.com.
The Department has coordinated with the Southern Regional E-commerce Center - OSB Group to support enterprises in the province to participate in the Alibaba.com e-commerce platform; 100% funding support for purchasing Gold Supplier Basic membership service packages on Alibaba.com e-commerce platform, designing booths on Alibaba.com e-commerce platform, taking care of booths according to standards, etc.
HG Food Joint Stock Company (Thu Thua district) is one of the enterprises supported by the Department of Industry and Trade to put products on Alibaba.com e-commerce platform and initially received quite positive attention and feedback.

Director of HG Food Joint Stock Company - Duong Thi Truc Giang said: “In parallel with maintaining traditional sales channels, the company also enhances product promotion and goods transactions on e-commerce platforms. Through these platforms, the company's products are closer to domestic and foreign consumers. At the same time, e-commerce also helps the company reduce costs for intermediaries in product consumption”.
To achieve positive results in the consumption and export of agricultural products through e-commerce platforms in recent times, the Department of Industry and Trade has implemented synchronous measures. In particular, the department focuses on coordinating with e-commerce platforms to organize training for businesses, cooperatives, and farmers on how to register information, how to put products on the platform, livestreaming skills for direct sales, how to receive orders, close orders, pack, deliver and pay, etc.
Continue to promote and connect consumption
Long An seedless limes are not only famous domestically but also in Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East countries. According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the whole province currently has more than 11,300 hectares of limes, concentrated in the districts of Ben Luc, Thu Thua, Duc Hoa, Duc Hue and Thanh Hoa. The annual fruit output is about 180,000 tons. Of which, Ben Luc is the locality with the largest lime area in the province with about 7,000 hectares.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viet Limes Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company (Thanh Loi commune, Ben Luc district) - Nguyen Van Hien said that, in addition to fresh limes, products made from limes are also gradually conquering domestic and foreign consumers through e-commerce platforms.
“Currently, some of the company's lime products such as lime essential oil, dried lime leaves, soluble lime powder, and dried lime peel are being displayed and promoted on the province's e-commerce platform. In addition to the core factor of product use and quality, doing business through e-commerce sales sites also plays an important role in bringing the company's products to the market. Thereby, the products both spread quickly to consumers and save costs" - Mr. Hien added.
It can be said that e-commerce platforms have been contributing to increasing the ability to connect, consume products, and increase income for farmers in the province. Through e-commerce platforms, the province's key agricultural products and high-quality agricultural products are brought closer to domestic and foreign consumers.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, from the beginning of 2024, the Department submitted to the Provincial People's Committee to issue the Long An Province E-commerce Development Plan in 2024 with contents on training and developing e-commerce human resources; supporting Long An enterprises to participate in reputable e-commerce trading platforms; developing and implementing e-commerce investigation and statistics plans; maintaining and restoring e-commerce trading data; software for tracing the origin of typical products of Long An province; software for managing online gasoline and oil business in Long An province.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Tran Thanh Toan, in recent times, the Department has focused on researching the deployment and implementation of trade promotion activities abroad, encouraging enterprises and cooperatives of the province to participate in international e-commerce activities. Thanks to that, many agricultural products of the province have been gradually promoted, introduced and consumed by many domestic and foreign markets.
“In the coming time, the Department will continue to support production and business entities to bring agricultural products to e-commerce platforms; continue to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to effectively deploy and implement the Long An E-commerce Development Plan for the period 2021-2025; support and promote the widespread application of e-commerce in enterprises and the community; build a healthy, competitive and sustainable e-commerce market; promote training activities, human resource development, traceability, etc." - Mr. Tran Thanh Toan informed.
Promoting e-commerce is a suitable direction, helping the province's agricultural products expand their consumption markets. However, facing high demands and requirements from e-commerce platforms, localities need to support improving the quality and design of goods; actively coordinate with functional agencies and e-commerce platforms to support training and education for farmers on the process and methods of putting agricultural products on e-commerce platforms./.
