Four outstanding organizations received certificates of VEA

Chief of Representative Board of the Long An Elderly Association Nguyen Van Nhung reports results as well as activities in 2017

Attending in the conference was Deputy Chairman of Vietnam Elderly Association (VEA) Pham Thi Son, Deputy Standing Secretary of Provincial Party Committee Do Huu Lam, Deputy Chairman of Provincial People’s Council Nguyen Minh Lam; and Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Long An Hoang Van Lien.

Last year, the association admitted 6.974 members, increasing up to total 137,541 people.

The association held practical activities, contributing to rise life quality for the elderly, and collaborated with the local health departments to launch eye examinations as well as mobilize expense of eye treatment and laser eye surgery for 1,427 old people with total cost of up to VND 4.9 billion.

In addition, its relevant agencies in collaboration with the fatherland and front committee and organizations offered 335 gratitude houses worth over VND 12.6 billion for the elderly poor, to offer free tours for 4,111 old people worth VND 1.6 billion.

Up to now, there are 680 elderly clubs with more than 10,000 members, including 199 clubs of eurhythmics, 59 clubs of Don ca tai tu (Southern amateur music) and 21 clubs of music performance …in the province.

Currently, the province has 12,223 old people who are good businessmen and producers.

At the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Van Lien praised the outstanding results and achievements of the local elderly associations in the previous time suggesting they continue affirming role and tasks in social activities.

On the occasion, the VEA received a certificate of merit for its great contributions in welfare activities of Long An province. 

Representatives of Long An and district of Duc Hoa, Tan Thanh and Can Giuoc respectively received certificates from the Vietnam Elderly Association. 15 outstanding organizations and individuals also received certificates from the Representative Board of the Long An Elderly Association./.
