GDVT sets target for trained workers at 25%

The General Department of Vocational Training (GDVT) will seek to increase the number of vocational education graduates to 2.1 million, increasing the proportion of trained workers with certificates from 23% to 25%.

For this year, the vocational education sector has set a target of enrolling 2.2 million people.

According to statistics from 63 departments of labour, invalids and social affairs, in 2017 the average rate of college and vocational training school graduates securing employment after graduation reached more than 80%.

The more prestigious vocational training schools, such as the Vocational College of Technology, the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational College of Technology, the LILAMA 2 International Technology College, and the Vocational College No. 1, have the highest rate of employment among graduates at 100%.

The average starting salary for trained students after graduation is VND 5.2 million per month. Some jobs have higher salaries, such as driving inland waterway transports (VND7 million) or operating machinery (VND6million to VND8 million)./.
