The Youth Union of Long Huu Tay commune propagates the model of daily garbage, for the benefit of the community
Building green, clean and beautiful environmental landscape
Nhi Thanh commune of Thu Thua district, Long An province has many entrepreneurs doing business in the area but the environmental criteria are always maintained and regularly improved, contributing to building a modern civilized society.
Chairman of Nhi Thanh commune People's Committee - Nguyen Van Dut said: “In 2014, Nhi Thanh commune was recognized to meet the new-style rural standard. The above results were the efforts of the Party Committee, authorities and local people. However, the commune determined that the environmental criteria were not substantial and must be improved regularly. Based on that, the commune built each citizen as an advocate to keep the environment clean.
Accordingly, the commune provides the phone numbers of the leaders and commune police for the people to promptly notify when entrepreneurs are detected to dump garbage at wrong places. In addition, the commune also hangs dozens of signs prohibiting dumping in places where there are no people, and at the same time coordinating with Tan An city Construction Company to increase daily waste collection, in order to contribute to reducing waste volume.
In Long Huu commune of Can Duoc District, Youth Union coordinated with the Veterans Association of the commune to implement the model of daily activities for community benefits. In early 2019, Youth Union selected Tay hamlet as a point for implementing the model. Here, the Youth Union coordinated with the Commune Veterans Association to promote propaganda and guide people at home to sort organic, inorganic and recyclable waste.
Secretary of Party Committee of Long Huu Tay commune - Dang Kim Quyen said: “People in Tay hamlet mainly live along rivers so they often throw rubbish in the river. Facing this situation, the Youth Union decided to choose Tay hamlet as a point for implementing the model. After implementation time, up to now, the situation of people throwing garbage into the river has been greatly reduced, contributing to change people's awareness, habits and reduce plastic waste into the ocean. Furthermore, through this model, on average monthly, the commune Youth Union also collected 70 kilos of plastic bottles, scrap paper, and so on to raise funds to help poor students ".
Now, people in Tay hamlet in particular, Long Huu Tay commune in general not only classify rubbish at source, put waste in the right place but also have many creative ways to build a green, clean and beautiful environment like building a solid concrete waste pit; using woven nets to create recycling containers, etc.
Ms. Dang Thi Ung, living in Tay hamlet, Long Huu Tay commune said: “Responding to the movement launched by Youth Union, I often remind my children not to throw rubbish away indiscriminately around the house to keep the environment beautiful”.
Implementing environmental criteria associated with improving the quality of cultural communes, new-style rural, Hung Thanh commune of Tan Hung district planted flowers and trees along inter-hamlet and inter-commune roads. As a result, the landscape is increasingly fresh and cool, and people live in harmony with nature and plants.
Vice Chairman of Hung Thanh commune People's Committee - Ngan Van Giang said: “People not only take initiative in planting trees, flowers in front of their house, they also join hands with local people construct hygienic latrines and putting garbage in right places. By many practical solutions, we believe that Hung Thanh will increasingly improve the quality of cultural and new-style rural commune”.
Mr. Nguyen Van Noi, living in Vinh Hoa hamlet, An Vinh Ngai commune, proactively donates 30 square meters of land to build wells to serve people's daily needs.
Improving people’s living standards
Chairman of An Vinh Ngai People's Committee, Tan An city - Le Van Viet shared: “In early 2015, An Vinh Ngai commune was recognized to meet new-style rural standards. At that time, the commune had 2.48 percent of poor households; the income per capita is only 32 million VND per year; 50 percent of people use clean water; the security and order situation is still complicated, etc. In order to build an advanced new-style rural commune, An Vinh Ngai offered many practical solutions, especially paying attention to improving the people’s life quality. As a result, up to now, the poor households in the commune has been 1.46 percent; The income per capita is over 62 million VND per year; over 80 percent of people use clean water; security and order situation is maintained; and so on."
Understanding the purpose and meaning of the National Target Program on new-style rural construction, Mr. Nguyen Van Noi, living in Vinh Hoa hamlet of An Vinh Ngai commune, voluntarily donated 30 square meters of land to build wells to serve people's daily needs.
Mr. Noi shared: “Although the commune is recognized as meeting the new-style rural standard, the rate of people using clean water is very low. Last time, Vinh Hoa hamlet in particular and An Vinh Ngai commune in general were paid much attention by the superiors and supported over 500 million VND per year to build wells to serve people's daily needs. And now, our people have strong, clean water to use, so people are excited. The National Target Program on new-style rural construction really comes to life”.
The purpose of building a new-style rural commune is to improve the people’s life quality, so in recent years, Nhi Thanh commune has created favorable conditions for the poor to access preferential loans from the Bank for Social Policy and vocational training and introduce recruitment for rural laborers, and so on. Thanks to that, the commune's poor households have decreased year by year, so far to only 0.009 percent.
Ms. Huynh Thi My Le, living in Hamlet 4, Nhi Thanh commune said: “Previously, my family was poor. Because my family life is mainly based on the amount of money I have to work. Knowing my family's situation, the local government introduced me to a company near my home. Since then, I have had a stable income and got out of poverty".
By many jobs and practical actions, the localities in the province constantly improve the people’s life quality both physically and mentally./.
