Korean Jeju Air to open route to Da Nang in late December

The Republic of Korea’s Jeju Air plans to open new direct routes between South Korea and Vietnam’s cities, including the Daegu - Da Nang route starting on December 22.

The new service will be operational with seven flights per week. Travel time will be 4 hours 30 minutes

The new air route is the seventh from Korea to Vietnam operated by Jeju Air, including Incheon-Da Nang, Pusan – Da Nang, Muan-Da Nang, Seoul-Nha Trang, Incheon –Hanoi, and Seoul - Ho Chi Minh City.

Yang Seong-jin, a public relations director for the group said Da Nang is a destination that attracts a large number of Korean visitors.
Jeju Air’s routes to Vietnam are just behind the largest markets, Japan and China. The carrier has increased its number of seats from 150,000 in 2015 to 450,000 in 2017. As of October, 2018, the airline provided 720,000 seats.

Besides opening the new route, the South Korean low-cost airline will also increase the number of flights between the two nations, according to Jeju Air’s representative.

South Korea is Vietnam's biggest foreign investor. The bilateral trade turnover between two sides has sharply increased for recent years, reached US$45 billion in 2016, US$63.9 billion in 2017 and expected to achieve US$100 billion by 2020.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, around 2.4 million South Korean visitors arrived in Vietnam in 2017. The country received 303,410 tourists from Korea in this October and 2.86 million in the first ten months of this year, up 48 percent from the same period last year.

The budget airline also plans to open 63 routes connecting South Korea and 42 Asia Pacific cities./.
