At the meeting, Chairman of Long An provincial People's Committee - Tran Van Can briefly reported on the socio-economic situation of the province in the first months of the year. Accordingly, in the agricultural sector, productivity of some major agricultural products (rice, vegetables, lemon, dragon fruit) is higher than the same period.
Industry and construction continue to grow. Investment promotion and business support activities are focused on implementation. Trade and services have seen stable growth. Export turnover reached USD 1.35 billion, up 15% over the same period. Import turnover reached USD 0.99 billion, up 16% over the same period, and so on.
Up to now, the province has completed the arrangement of the province-level departments and branches, district-level People's Committees and public non-business units under the Project No.02-DA/TU of Long An Provincial Party Committee and consolidated the National Assembly Delegation Office, Provincial People's Council Office, Provincial People's Committee Office into the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, People's Council and People's Committee Office.
After arranging, compared to 2017, the whole province reduced 2 province-level agencies and 95 affiliated units as well as 49 heads, 35 deputy heads and 40 staffs. For public non-business units, the province reduced 192 units, in which, the province-level reduced 114 units, 128 heads and 47 deputy heads.

On this occasion, provincial leaders, departments and branches also proposed to the Central leaders about the determination of land use fees when transferring from industrial park land allocated by the State with land use fees to residential land; policies to support agricultural production enterprises that achieved GlobalGAP certification; policies for people living in landslides to relocate to a safe place; mechanism to encourage investment in solar power projects with capacity of 10MWp or less together with prevention and control of African swine fever, etc.
Standing Deputy Prime Minister - Truong Hoa Binh highly appreciated the results that Long An has achieved. He also asked the province to invest in high-tech industry and agriculture in association with developing services and tourism; invest in infrastructure construction, especially transport infrastructure to connect key economic regions and surrounding areas; continue administrative reform, support procedures and policies to promptly solve difficulties to attract and retain investors, especially strategic investors, and so on.
