Long An reviews activities promoting country’s sovereignty over its sea, islands

A meeting reviewing activities to promote the national sea and islands sovereignty was held in Long An province on March 23.

Head of the provincial Party Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Education Dinh Ngoc Lam hands over a present to Rear admiral Nguyen Phong Canh, party chief of the High Command of the Navy Region 2.

Attending at the event were Rear admiral Nguyen Phong Canh, party chief of the High Command of the Navy Region 2; deputy secretary of the Long An province’s Party Committee Do Huu Lam; head of the provincial Party Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Education Dinh Ngoc Lam and representatives of departments and units in the province.

In 2017, the Long An Newspaper and Long An Radio & TV Station brought to viewers many information on policies and guidelines of the Party on the national sea and islands, all efforts to overcome difficulties by people and soldiers  in remote and island areas to protect the country’s sovereignty over the East Sea.

The provincial Party Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Education organized trips consisting of leaders and representatives from many sectors to visit people and soldiers in Truong Sa archipelago (Spratly Islands) and DK1 Platform; exhibition of historical evidence proving Vietnam's sovereignty over Hoang Sa(Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.

The High Command of the Navy Region 2 coordinated with the provincial Committee of Communist Youth Union to host exchanges between soldiers and youth, and activities to raise awareness of the country's sea and islands among local people.

On this occasion, the provincial Party Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Education and the High Command of the Navy Region 2 signed an agreement on popularizing Vietnam's islands and sea sovereignty, towards a sustainable development of the ocean economy to attract investment in the province./.
