Long An strengthens relations and expands cooperation with Japanese partners

Continuing the working trip in Japan, from December 8-9, Long An delegation paid a courtesy visit and worked with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), surveyed environmental projects and discussed directly with Japanese organizations and investors before successfully concluding the labor promotion and local connection trip.

* Accordingly, the delegation of Long An province visited and worked at the headquarters of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This is the agency representing the Japanese government that manages all forms of official development assistance (ODA) abroad, is the world's largest bilateral support organization, operating in over 152 countries and regions with about 100 offices abroad.

At the meeting, Secretary of the Long An Provincial Party Committee - Nguyen Van Duoc highly appreciated JICA's role in enhancing the cooperative relationship between the two countries, and thanked JICA for supporting Long An province in investment activities, upgrading infrastructure, health care, including the important project of Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway passing through the province.

Provincial leaders asked JICA to continue supporting (directly or indirectly) in many fields that the province is prioritizing investment cooperation such as upgrading transport infrastructure, healthcare, human resource training, supports connecting the province's interns to access free intern support programs under the agreement between JICA and the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam. The province commits to creating the most favorable conditions for Japanese agencies, organizations and businesses to work and cooperate in Long An.

* The delegation also came to work at the Sapporo Group headquarters in Tokyo. At the meeting, CEO of Sapporo Holdings Group and Chairman of Sapporo Brewery Company - Hiroyuki Nose thanked the leaders of Long An province for supporting the group in the process of beer production, business and factory operation in Long An; at the same time, he hopes to expand the scale and promote the Group's production and business activities in Vietnam, especially in Long An.

Secretary of Provincial Party Committee - Nguyen Van Highly appreciated the group's contributions in Long An over the past time, and hopes that the group will continue to expand its scale and invest in modern production lines to increase labor productivity, promoting production efficiency. The province will always support and facilitate administrative procedures and continue to invest in synchronous infrastructure to help Sapporo Group in particular as well as Japanese investors in general feel secure when investing and producing in the province.

* The delegation surveyed at Hitachi Zosen Corporation. This is a corporation with a long history in the environmental field with over 957 waste treatment plants around the world. Talking at the meeting, Secretary of Provincial Party Committee - Nguyen Van Duoc said that currently, waste treatment conditions in the province do not meet actual requirements, so it is necessary to soon deploy waste treatment projects using advanced, modern and suitable technology to meet world environmental standards.

In addition, Long An Provincial Master Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, has planned 5 solid waste treatment plants with a total planning area of over 330 hectares. Therefore, the provincial leaders requested Hitachi Zosen Group to research investment plans and technologies to be appropriate to the reality in the province, considering the waste classification process, and treatment costs to calculate and propose suitable suitable plans. After discussing at the headquarters, the group's leaders guided the Long An province delegation to survey waste treatment models with modern technology that the group is applying.

* Besides expanding cooperation with new partners in Japan, the province's working group also tightened cooperative relationships with localities and businesses that have had cooperative relation with the province. At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee - Pham Tan Hoa highly appreciated the results achieved during the business trip of the Governor of Ibaraki province to Long An in July 2023; At the same time, he hopes that the Governor will continue to support and strengthen cooperation between the two localities in many fields.

In addition, the Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee also came to work at the Office of Esuhai Co. Ltd. - the province's labor partner in Japan and Berg Earth Company - an enterprise operating in the agricultural field.

Through the working sessions, the delegation had discussions related to foreign labor needs and policies for Vietnamese workers. In addition, the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee met, talked, and encouraged interns from Long An in Japan, hoping that they would comply with the company's laws and regulations, improve their professional skills, practice their Japanese, and return to serve homeland after completing the program.

On December 10, the Long An province delegation returned to Vietnam, successfully ending the labor promotion and local connection trip in Japan./.

In recent years, Long An has always been known as a bright spot in attracting investment in the Mekong Delta region. To date, the province has more than 1,233 FDI projects from 40 countries and territories with a total investment capital of over 10,556.3 billion USD. Among them, Japan is one of the most important partners of Long An in attracting FDI investment, the 4th country in terms of investment capital and number of projects with 148 projects and a total capital of over 933.9 million USD. This proves that Long An's investment environment truly creates trust for Japanese businesses.

After 1 week of with a full working schedule, the Long An province delegation achieved many important initial results in labor promotion activities, local connection, and strengthening cooperation with Japanese localities, organizations and businesses such as: signed a joint statement on cooperation with Okayama city, Japan; Surveyed 4 modern projects and models in the field of environment; greeted and worked with 10 associations and businesses such as JICA, Aeon, Nomura; etc.
