NA Standing Committee to convene 25th session on July 11

The Standing Committee of the 14th National Assembly will review the outcomes of the legislature’s fifth meeting and initially discuss preparations for the next sitting during its 25th session scheduled to open in Hanoi on July 11.

The committee will look into the controversial contents of draft laws, including the Law on Vietnam’s Coast Guard, the Law on Protection of State Secrets, and the amended Law on Anti-Corruption. 

The full-time legislators are scheduled to debate the settlement of the money that the General Department of Vietnam Customs had taken in advance to implement its personnel reduction policy before 2012. 

The allocation of investments sourced from the State budget during the 2016-2020 period, and the use of 15 trillion VND (645 million USD) from the standby capital of the mid-term investment plan for 2016-2020 for major railway and road projects will also be tabled during the session. 

Besides, they will scrutinise the implementation of a number of regulations of the Investment Law, the Law on Public Investment, and the Law on Environmental Protection regarding the environmental impacts of investment projects, along with the Government’s draft decree on a number of special mechanisms of investment, finance, budget, and management allocation in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho. 

The lawmakers will also give opinions on the establishment of Lai Uyen town in Bau Bang district and Tan Thanh town in Bac Tan Uyen district, in the southern province of Binh Duong; and Dong Loc town in Can Loc district in the central province of Ha Tinh. 

The formation of the People’s Court and the People’s Procuracy of Phu My town in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau will also be deliberated on this occasion./.
