Local officials on December 25 revealed that the number of confirmed deaths from Tembin on Mindanao’s Zamboanga peninsula had risen to 78, while the death toll in Lanao del Sur province went up to 27. The storm killed 135 others in the northern part of Mindanao island. 

Rescuers are still looking for 107 people in the three areas.

Around 13,000 households in Mindanao with at least 52,000 people have to welcome Christmas Day in evacuation camps.

Tembin hit Mindanao, the second biggest island of the Philippines, on December 22, causing floods and landslides and isolating a remote village.
It made landfall one week after storm Kai Tak left dozens of people dead and over 20 unaccounted for in the central Philippines.

Each year, the Philippines has to suffer from about 20 storms, causing serious human and material losses. Typhoon Haiyan, which swept through the central Philippines in November 2013, killed thousands and destroying many densely-populated cities./.
