On July 25, Long An province held a conference to announce investment planning and promotion. Implementing the 2017 Planning Law, Long An province actively formulated the Provincial Plan for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. After more than 2 years of implementation, on June 13, 2023, the Provincial Plan for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 686. Long An province is also the 10th locality in the country and the first in the Southern region whose Provincial Master Plan to be approved.

The Provincial Plan clearly states the viewpoints, development orientations and goals of the province by the end of the planning period as well as a vision to 2050. The plan is to arrange development space and allocate resources for socio-economic activities, national defense, security, and environmental protection; propose breakthroughs to develop the province in the planning period.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council – Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized that, with the attention and support of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Government Office; central and provincial ministries, the province has completed the formulation of the Provincial Master Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

The approved Master Plan is an important basis and premise to lead and direct the province's socio-economic development, towards the goal of building Long An into a dynamic, efficient and sustainable economic development center of the southern region by 2030; becoming a gateway on the urban-industrial economic corridor of the Mekong Delta, closely connected with Ho Chi Minh City, the Southeast region and an important hub for cooperation and trade with Cambodia; forming economic corridors, development space, dynamic centers and cities, ensuring adaptation to climate change; ensuring national defense and security so that people can have a prosperous, civilized and happy life.

At the conference, Long An introduced 13 investment incentive projects including: Long An border gate economic zone; Phu An Thanh industrial park; Viet Phat industrial park; Prodezi industrial park; Khang Thong entertainment complex; Nam Long VCD urban area; biotech center in Dong Thap Muoi; logistics area of Long An international port; building a food logistics center in Dong Thap Muoi; logistics center and logistics services; developing beef cattle breeding in Long An province; yams processing factories; dragon fruit processing factory. In addition, the province also presented policy decisions, investment certificates, signed memorandum of understandings (MOUs) with investors.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister - Pham Minh Chinh congratulated and highly appreciated Long An for urgently building, completing and submitting to the Prime Minister for promulgation and announcement the Provincial Master Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. The Prime Minister affirmed that this conference is an important event to further concretize guidelines and policies of the Party and State on the development of the Mekong Delta in general and Long An province in particular, Resolution No. 13 of the Politburo on the direction of socio-economic development, ensuring defense and security of the Mekong Delta region to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Long An province is a sacred land with extraordinary people. In many periods, the Long An people have made important contributions to the cause of protection and development of the country. The province has a magnanimous historical tradition; many innovations; is a place of convergence and interference of many cultural regions; is the connection center between the Southeast and the Southwest region, the North - South, East-West and the coastal economic corridors; has experience and potential after more than 35 years of innovation.

"Long An province has many unique potentials, outstanding opportunities, competitive advantages for fast and sustainable socio-economic development, is an attractive destination for domestic and international investors, creating a driving force for development not only of Long An, but also of the Mekong Delta region and the whole country," the Prime Minister affirmed.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also suggested the province to perform 6 key tasks. In particular, the province needs to urgently implement drastically, synchronously and effectively the Provincial Master Plan, especially in sectors and fields with potential and advantages. In particular, it is necessary to prioritize two important contents including the allocation of resources to organize the synchronous and efficient implementation of development space according to the model "One center - Two corridors - Three economic and social regions - Six dynamic axes". At the same time, the province must focus on coordination and unified management, ensuring linkage, synchronization, unity, efficiency and sustainable development with a long-term vision, overall development orientation, maximizing potentials and advantages, creating motivation for socio-economic development.

The Prime Minister also suggested that the business community and investors to have a long-term and sustainable business strategy, strictly implement investment commitments and cooperation agreements, comply with the law and the Provincial Master Plan, well implement the business culture in the spirit of "harmonious benefits, shared risks"; ensure regimes and policies for employees, actively participate in ensuring social security.
