Promoting trade, expanding market

In 2024, trade promotion activities of Long An province are continue to be innovated and promoted with diverse and flexible forms, thereby expanding the export market for goods.

Supporting businesses to promote trade and develop markets

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in 2024, the Department was assigned a budget of nearly 2.5 billion VND by the Provincial People's Committee to carry out trade promotion activities. Up to now, the trade promotion program has approved 15 plans with more than 2.2 billion VND, accounting for about 90% of the allocated budget, and has completed 9 plans with a disbursement budget of more than 1.5 billion VND.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Chau Thi Le, the Department supported 157 businesses to directly participate in fairs and exhibitions; 61 businesses to participate in connecting supply and demand. Of which, there are 5 foreign trade development programs with 90 enterprises participating, 2 trade connection programs with 61 enterprises participating, 2 domestic market development programs with 40 enterprises participating.

In addition, in the first 9 months of 2024, the Department organized 8 domestic market development programs without using funds with 34 enterprises participating. About 10 enterprises participated in other fairs and exhibitions and more than 100 enterprises participated in displaying products at events.

The Department supported enterprises to participate in a number of major trade promotion events such as the 6th International Exhibition and Conference on Vegetable and Fruit Production and Processing in Vietnam - Hortex Vietnam 2024, the 33rd Vietnam International Trade Fair - Vietnam EXPO 2024, the 3rd Ho Chi Minh City International Food Industry Exhibition in 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Export Fair in 2024 or the series of events Connecting the international supply chain - Vietnam International Sourcing 2024.

In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade deployed and implemented 2 tasks assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, including organizing an exhibition area for typical, representative products, OCOP products of the province at the 32nd Traditional Meeting of Military and Civilian Medicine of the Southeast Military Zone D and implementing an area to display and introduce typical products of the province at the event to receive and work with the delegation of Okayama City, Japan.

“Through trade promotion activities, enterprises highly appreciate the support policies and supply-demand connection implemented by the Department, especially events of international scale, creating effective trade connections and finding new markets” - Ms. Chau Thi Le said.

In addition, the provincial e-commerce trading plattform is operated, supporting 64 establishments and enterprises to post OCOP products, typical rural industrial products, regional specialties, etc.

Developing digital trade

In addition to traditional trade promotion activities, in recent times, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade has also focused on promoting e-commerce, developing digital trade, and digital transformation in the industry and trade sector.

Accordingly, in 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade will submitted to the Provincial People's Committee an e-commerce development plan with 4 main contents including training and developing provincial e-commerce human resources; supporting businesses to participate in reputable e-commerce trading plattforms; building and implementing a plan to investigate, collect e-commerce statistics, maintain and restore e-commerce trading plattforms data, software to trace the origin of typical products of the province.

According to Ms. Chau Thi Le, to date, the Department has completed 1 national e-commerce project: Training and developing provincial e-commerce human resources. For the project to support businesses to participate in reputable e-commerce plattforms, 5 participating units have been selected. At the same time, the Department continues to coordinate with the E-commerce Development Center to maintain the software for tracing the origin of typical products of the province, deploying it for enterprises, cooperatives, and related units to participate.

According to statistics, up to now, 23 enterprises have registered to participate in the progarm for tracing the origin, confirming codes for 47 products, 3 production batches, with the number of product code scans of more than 3,300 times. In addition, the Department has deployed to enterprises, cooperatives, and business establishments to register to participate in the Long An Provincial E-commerce Platform, connecting with the Unified E-commerce Platform of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Up to now, there have been 76 booths participating in the Platform with 312 products, the number of transactions is 3,827.

Ms. Chau Thi Le added that the Department is inviting businesses to participate in the Cross-Border E-commerce Promotion Delegation in Japan as well as deploying businesses to register to participate in the Project to Support Long An Enterprises to Participate in Reputable E-commerce Trading Platforms to strongly promote e-commerce and support provincial enterprises to develop new consumer markets./.
