In recent times, the People's Committee of Long An has promptly implemented policies of the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to promote trade and consumption of goods through industrial promotion, trade promotion, e-commerce and coordinating activities to welcome foreign business delegations to survey and develop trade.
In terms of trade promotion, the province focuses on domestic market and foreign trade development activities, focusing on trade connection, wholesale, limiting small-scale promotion activities. The domestic trade promotion is mainly concentrated in large, dynamic markets such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, and Can Tho. Regarding foreign trade development, Long An focuses on potential markets, suitable for the province's products such as China, Thailand, Cambodia, Korea, Japan, etc.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, trade promotion activities have gradually received positive assessments from enterprises in the province regarding the effectiveness of participation, especially the suitability and effectiveness of recent activities when shifting from small, retail to large-scale activities, with international elements and organized systematically and professionally. Foreign trade development activities help enterprises directly access foreign markets. Policies and guidelines on trade promotion and e-commerce are focused on synchronously; close coordination between sectors, localities, enterprises, and cooperatives has been improved. The quality of goods, raw and processed agricultural products is improved, and products are more diverse. The effectiveness of the province's support programs has spread, many enterprises, production facilities, and cooperatives have proactively and actively participated in trade promotion programs, creating opportunities for trading, connecting goods and consuming products.

The owner of Co Chau sausage establishment (Can Duoc district) - Luu Thi Kim Chau said: "The establishment prioritizes product quality so that the sausage is fresh and retains its flavor over time. The product must fully meet customer needs. By participating in the province's trade promotion program, the establishment can connect and find more markets to better consume products". Currently, Co Chau sausage establishment has a variety of products, in addition to pork sausage, there are also salted egg sausage, shrimp sausage, Taiwanese shrimp and meat sausage, etc. Each month, the facility supplies the market with 700kg or more of sausage.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in trade promotion work, the unit regularly coordinates with agencies under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Counselors, Vietnam Trade Offices in countries and border localities to provide information on the market situation, policies, and laws of countries to businesses; coordinates with businesses and Vietnamese people in foreign markets (Canada, USA, China, UAE, Malaysia, etc) to learn about the market; connects to find sources of supply. At the same time, the Department supports enterprises and cooperatives to send goods to promote in foreign markets; participate in trade fairs abroad: China, Thailand, etc; support Long An enterprises to participate in trade promotion programs of Ho Chi Minh City.

The Department of Industry and Trade regularly maintains distribution systems such as Co.opmart, Go, San Ha, Tu Son supermarket, wholesale markets, collective kitchens, etc to connect consumption, increase the purchase of agricultural products of the province. Up to now, enterprises and cooperatives have implemented 282 contracts to supply goods with enterprises in provinces, Ho Chi Minh City, etc.
On the other hand, the Department regularly supports enterprises to participate in trade promotion activities, connect trade to develop the market. Particularly since the beginning of 2024, the province has supported about 650 enterprises to participate in trade connection events with domestic and foreign enterprises and trade promotion organizations in direct and online forms; regularly posts information on buying and selling needs for enterprises to connect and find trade opportunities. The Department continues to coordinate with the E-commerce Development Center to maintain the software for tracing the origin of typical products of Long An (https://truyxuatnguongoc.longan.gov.vn); maintains Long An Provincial E-commerce Platform (http://longantrade.com/) to connect with the Unified E-commerce Platform of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (https://sanviet.vn/); to date, there have been 76 booths participating on the platform with 312 products.
In the first 9 months of 2024, the revenue of products sold at Long An warehouse on Shopee platform was over 386 billion VND. The province also supported 5 enterprises to participate in reputable e-commerce platforms.
According to the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Huynh Van Quang Hung, currently, trade promotion work is still facing some difficulties. The domestic and world market situation is unpredictable: Competition, protection of domestic production. Enterprises and cooperatives have not fully recovered after the period of decline. Resources and supports for enterprises and cooperatives are still limited. Many enterprises and cooperatives are still limited in scale, not meeting market requirements, distribution systems; not proactive, flexible in negotiating trade contracts after connection programs, not daring to sign contracts.
For trade promotion to be effective, the Department of Industry and Trade focuses on doing a good job of information, propaganda, supporting enterprises in the process of international integration, making the most of incentives and advantages from the FTAs that Vietnam has signed; coordinate to call for investment in developing the processing industry, developing trade infrastructure, developing exports, promoting the restructuring of the industry and trade sector.
At the same time, the Department continues to innovate trade promotion activities, connecting supply and demand of goods, developing foreign markets; focusing on international specialized exhibition activities and trade promotion activities in foreign markets; enhancing the export capacity of typical and key product of the province; supporting the connection between export enterprises and international distribution corporations; developing e-commerce transactions on reputable e-commerce platforms around the world to provide practical and effective support to help enterprises and cooperatives develop production, expand product consumption markets and participate in the global value chain; etc./.
