Introducing to the Government mission delegation, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dong Tam Group - Vo Quoc Thang said that Long An International Port was a project in a complex of 4 project areas with a total scale of 1,935 hectares, including the Long An International Port; Long An Southeast Asia Industrial Park; Long An Southeast Asia Industrial Services Area; and Long An Southeast Asia Urban Area.
In particular, Long An Port covers an area of 147 hectares, invested in three phases with a total capital of nearly 10,000 billion VND, including 7 wharves with a capability of receiving ships of up to 70,000 DWT with a total dimension of the 1,670 meters in length from the beginning of Pier 1 to the end of Pier 7; 7 barge wharves; warehouse system, bonded warehouse; container yard system and other extra works. All items are being urgently deployed to build on the progress of completion in 2023.

Particularly, the warehouse area for storage at the Port is 400,000 square meters, serving the needs of transporting and storing agricultural and fishery goods of the Mekong River Delta region and a gateway for enterprises in the South to import and export, pack and distribute goods by road, sea or inland waterways.
Long An Province has invested in constructing Provincial Road 830 connecting Long An International Port to the districts of Can Giuoc, Can Duoc, Ben Luc, Duc Hoa, Duc Hue and most industrial parks in the province; Besides, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway Project (belonging to the North - South Expressway) will be opened by the end of 2020, connecting 4.89 kilometers of expressway through Long An province in Ben Luc and Can Giuoc districts, with 24.92 kilometers through Ho Chi Minh City via districts of Binh Chanh, Nha Be and Can Gio and 27.28 kilometers through Dong Nai province via districts of Nhon Trach and Long Thanh, this helps inter-western traffic and southeast region without going through Ho Chi Minh City, the route will connect directly with the network of highways - national highways, seaport system with Long Thanh international airport. At the same time, it contributes to reducing traffic pressure on National Highway (NH) 1 and NH51, shortening travel time from Long An Province to Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau. In addition, the expressway will connect with the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway to form part of the southern economic corridor of the Greater Mekong River Subregion extending from Bangkok via Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh City - Vung Tau. It can be said that Long An Port is the center of the Mekong River Delta with international connections.

Mr. Vo Quoc Thang - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dong Tam Group added: “Long An International Port with a complex includes urban area, seaport service and utilities to meet the package needs of businesses to come and invest. Up to now, 3 wharves have been constructed with a length of over 600 meters. In March 2020, it will continue to build wharf No. 3 and in 2021 continue to build wharf No.7 - welcoming ships with a tonnage of over 70.00 DWT".
Speaking at the working visit, the Standing Deputy Prime Minister - Truong Hoa Binh suggested that, besides the port services, Long An International Port needs to pay attention to providing logistics services bringing added value to customers. At the same time, Deputy Prime Minister noted that Long An province should invest well in planning, attracting resources for transport infrastructure investment in the coming time. Long An International Port should develop 2 more wharves, bringing the total number of wharves to 9; When completed and put into operation, it is not only valuable for trade and transportation of goods, but also one of the attractive destinations, especially cruise ship. Long An International Port needs planning and development to be able to accommodate large foreign vessels.
