The delegation of Svay Rieng province and leaders of Long An province visit the ecosystem of Long An International Port

This is one of the activities in the working program of the Delegation of Svay Rieng province, Kingdom of Cambodia when visiting Vietnam in general and Long An province in particular. Attending the event, there were Member of Long An Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Minh Lam; leaders of departments and branches of Long An province.

On the side of Svay Rieng province, there were Mr. Peng Posa - Governor of Svay Rieng province as the Head of the delegation and Deputy Governors including Mr. Toch Polyva, Mr. Hem Piseth, Mr. Sok Ros, Mr. Sokha Ram, Mr. Sar Sodani.

On the side of Dongtam Group, there were Chairman of the Board of Directors of Long An Port Joint Stock Company - Vo Quoc Huy; leaders of Dongtam Group and Long An International Port.

In the joyful atmosphere of welcoming the Vietnamese Traditional Lunar New Year of the Dragon 2024, Chairman of Board of Directors of Long An Port Joint Stock Company - Vo Quoc Huy expressed his joy and honor when welcoming the delegation of Svay Rieng province. This is an important event, opening up good relationships between Svay Rieng and Long An provinces in particular, and Vietnam and Cambodia in general. Thereby, promoting many opportunities for trade connections for businesses of the two countries.

Long An is one of two provinces in Vietnam that shares a land border with Svay Rieng province, and has a special position in the trade connection strategy between Vietnam and Cambodia. However, according to the Goods Transit Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Royal Government of Cambodia signed on December 26, 2013 in Hanoi, Long An province only has Binh Hiep border gate (Pray Vor border gate on the side of Svay Rieng province) qualified to perform transit goods operations.

Recently, many Vietnamese and Cambodian businesses have come to Long An International Port to learn about the operation of transit goods and transshipment goods from Cambodia through Long An International Port, the continuing their international voyages to European and American countries, or vice versa from transiting through Long An International Port to Cambodia.

“This has opened up many opportunities for Long An International Port to confidently have the capacity to receive this volume of goods. With a favorable geographical location, modern infrastructure, the most advanced equipment in the world, and a team of qualified professionals, Long An International Port has been serving the needs of enterprises which have goods in transit, goods transshipped from Cambodia to Vietnam and vice versa on road and waterway traffic" - member of the Board of Directors, Deputy General Director of Long An International Port Management & Exploiting Joint Stock Company  - Ngo Thi Thanh Vy said.

Head of Svay Rieng province delegation congratulated Long An's socio-economic development results achieved in 2023, including the strategic position and exploitation capacity of Long An International Port. With the growth of trade between the two countries and the establishment of Long An International Port, increasing the number of border gates is urgent. This will provide a multimodal international transportation route from Cambodia through Vietnam to the continents through the border gates of Svay Rieng province and Long An province, facilitating businesses and increasing competitive advantage for Svay Rieng and Long An provinces on the Southeast Asia supply chain map.

Mr. Peng Posa - Governor of Svay Rieng province shared: "I believe that if the project is properly calculated, Long An International Port will be an important bridge, expanding trade and exchanging goods between the two countries, bringing people and businesses benefits from transportation, including waterways, creating motivation to promote economic development. At the same time, the two sides will send a working group with expertise in traffic and transportation to survey and make appropriate recommendations to relevant ministries and branches in accordance with the law. We are very grateful to the leaders of Long An province and Long An International Port for warmly welcoming our delegation."

On the occasion of the visit and work at Long An International Port, the delegation met leaders of departments and branches of Long An province; representative of Dongtam Group and Long An International Port. Besides, the group visited the ecosystem of Long An International Port, such as the port, warehouse system, industrial park, service area, urban area, and the tallest flagpole in Indochina.

On the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year holiday of the Vietnamese people, Head of the delegation of Svay Rieng province wished a happy new year to the Party Committee, government and people of Long An province; Wishing the two provinces of Long An and Svay Rieng to become more and more united, maintaining peace, friendship and cooperation for development; Wishing the two countries Vietnam - Cambodia to develop a good traditional friendship relationship towards the 57th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (June 24, 1967 - June 24, 2024)./.
