The Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry has asked Thanh Hoa Province health officials to direct and supervise the disease prevention task.
According to the Department of Animal Health’s report, local authorities had to cull 226 pigs of breeder Le Van Thanh’ in Tan Ngu 2 village in Dinh Long Commune on February 23. The Agriculture Minister sent his urgent dispatch to agencies and local administrators , asking them to prevent the disease from spreading widely because of transportation and slaughter of sick and dead pigs between localities to localities.
On the same day, the poultry and cattle disease management board in Ho Chi Minh City convened a meeting to implement the decision No.122 of the municipal People’s Committee on plan against ASF in the city.
Deputy Chief of the management board Nguyen Phuoc Trung said the city consumes poultry and cattle from all corners of the country especially pork and pork products.
Accordingly, it is pivotal to tighten control of slaughterhouse, wholesale and traditional markets, supermarkets and processors. Plus, district administrations have to keep an eye on illegal slaughterhouses to impose harsh penalties on violators.
Head of the Dong Nai Province’s department of husbandry and animal health Tran Van Quang yesterday said that no changes in pig price in the province; however, more pigs have been transported from the North to the South in these days, possibly resulting in the risk of spread of disease amongst pigs in Dong Nai.
Averagely, every day ten vehicles carrying over 1,500 pigs from the northern provinces of Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and Ha Nam travel past the Ong Don Quarantine Station in the national highway in Xuan Loc District to consume in southwest provinces./.
