After-Tet market remains stable, prices undergo rare fluctuations

After the Lunar New Year of the Buffalo, numerous markets in the locality regain their daily bustle and lively atmosphere. Previously, every Lunar New Year holiday, people had usually carried huge food stocks for gradual use. However, it has changed over time as the majority of households only spend adequate purchases of food for New Year's days now, retailers are also open again very early, and prices occasionally fluctuate. After-Tet markets stay firm with few irregular variations. 

At markets, prices of pork and beef or several types of vegetables are almost constant

According to Ms. Le Thi Chau - a meat merchant in Ward said: "So far, today prices of pork are marginally higher than previous days since the number of sellers is not considerable and expectedly going to be more stable on about January 9 of Lunar Calendar. Accordingly, at her stall, for a kilo, pork belly costs 160.000 VND, meaty pork belly costs 200.000 VND, cutlet costs 140.000 VND, pork leg costs 150.000 VND, pork spare ribs costs 180.000 VND, beef costs from 240.000 to 250.000 VND. 

Several vegetable commodities claim stability and endure nearly no fluctuations. In particular, cabbage prices range from 15.000 VND to 18.000 VND per kilo, cucumber prices range from 12.000 VND to 15.000 VND per kilo. A number of fruits, namely Thai mango, price 45.000 VND per kilo, sweet mango, price of 30.000 VND per kilo, Nanfeng's tangerine (Nanfengmiju), price from 25.000 to 30.000 VND per kilo, star apple price from 20.000 to 30.000 VND per kilo, etc. 

Fruit and vegetable prices at markets inconsiderably fluctuate 

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung- a fish seller in Ward 2 of Tan An city informed: "On New Year's days, being tired of eating greasy food, many people really bring good sales by flocking to my stall. Prices of various types of fish are relatively stable, though some types are in slightly higher prices, big farm-raised fish price from 60.000 to 80.000 VND per kilo, red tilapia price from 40.000 to 70.000 VND per kilo, catfish price is from 60.000 to 80.000 VND per kilo. 

Ms. Tran Thi Minh's fresh chicken stall in Ward in Tan An City, she informed, in comparison with today, yesterday chicken and duck prices were greater. While yesterday ready-made Vietnamese native chicken price ranges from 110.000 to 120.000 VND per kilo, today one ranges only from 80.000 to 100.000 VND per kilo, ready-made duck, price from 65.000 to 75.000 VND per kilo.

Foot traffic at supermarkets is quite sparse, greatly fewer than those on before-Tet 

Prices of some vegetable commodities at supermarkets just a bit higher than traditional markets 

From January 4 of the Lunar calendar of the New Year, several supermarkets are back in service with adequate supplies of food, necessaries at equivalent prices to traditional markets' ones, some commodities of vegetable are slightly higher. Supermarkets' customer count is considerably lower than those on before-Tet. 

According to records, prices of commodities in the locality stay firm, possibly serve the needs of citizens before, during and after the Lunar New Year./.
