Can Giuoc: Rapid and sustainable development in key economic region

Favorable geographical location and strong investment in transport infrastructure over the past time are opportunities for Can Giuoc district to make a breakthrough in the new term

According to the Secretary of the Can Giuoc District Party Committee - Pham Van Bon, the XIIth District Party Committee Congress, the term 2020-2025 sets out the goal of exploiting the potentials and advantages of the district well to accelerate economic development according to the structure of industry - construction, trade - service, agriculture, it brings the locality to develop rapidly and sustainably in the key economic region of the province and become the satellite urban of Ho Chi Minh City step by step.

To achieve the goal of agricultural development, the district continues to direct the agricultural sector, localities to focus on propaganda to raise awareness for the people to switch from traditional farming to high-tech application in vegetable production and brackish water shrimp farming in the period 2020-2025.

According to the statistics of the District Division of Agriculture and Rural Development, after 5 years of implementing the Program for developing the hi-tech application vegetable production area, the district has now formed the largest region of the province's largest hi-tech application vegetable production area with over 1,000 hectares, exceeding the target resolution. In particular, the district has 27 cooperatives operating effectively in the agricultural sector, including 7 cooperatives and cooperative groups certified by VietGAP standards; 3 cooperatives including: Phuoc Thinh, Phuoc Hiep and the Mekong have achieved the value chain of food safety and hygiene.

To reach the target by 2025, the average vegetable output will reach 135,000 tons per year with 100 percent safe vegetables, many solutions have been identified by the district. In particular, the district continues to replicate and develop specialized production areas of agricultural products with high economic value; encourage and create conditions for organizations and individuals to invest in agriculture and rural areas, change from inefficient rice land to vegetable production and shrimp farming; striving to 2025, the district will have 14 cooperatives and cooperative groups certified to meet VietGAP standards and at least 3 more cooperatives reaching the value chain of food safety and hygiene.

However, in addition to the involvement of the authorities, the agricultural sector and the incentive policies, according to the Secretary of the District Party Committee - Pham Van Bon, the most important thing is to change people's minds and perceptions, each citizen must be made to understand that the application of technology in production is a prerequisite for creating safe and quality vegetable products, meeting the increasingly demanding market requirements and leading to sustainably construct the brand of Can Giuoc vegetables. Then, we bring long-term benefits to the farmers themselves.

Increasing the hi-tech application in agricultural production is an inevitable direction in agricultural development of Can Giuoc district.

To well exploit the potentials and advantages for developing industry, trade - service 

As the only locality that converges all favorable factors for the development of industry, trade - services, over the past 10 years, Can Giuoc district has gradually turned its advantages into reality when it becomes one of the localities that industry, trade - service is in the top speed of the province.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Giuoc district - Nguyen Tuan Thanh affirmed that the district has always been the place interested by big investors over the years because of such favorable conditions as the location adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City, with the main road through areas such as National Highway 50, Provincial Road 830 connecting industrial zones and clusters to Long An Port.

In particular, in the past term, the central and provincial authorities have paid attention to calling for investment promotion and development of key economic regions, a series of infrastructure - technical works of the province through the district have been deployed and implemented as Long An International Port, Ring Road 4, Ho Chi Minh City - Tien Giang dynamic axis and cooperation programs with neighboring localities, and so on have created an attractive destination in attracting investment in the district area. However, the district also faces challenges such as fluctuations in land prices leading to difficulties in site clearance, some projects delayed implementation after having investment policies.

In the term 2020-2025, the district continues to proactively review and resolutely propose to handle projects that are behind schedule according to the approved investment policy, focusing on site clearance for key projects as well as removing difficulties, problems, speeding up the site clearance progress of unfinished projects and key projects across the district.

In the term, the district strives to clear the ground, hand over the clean land fund to implement key projects, socio-economic development projects on schedule, especially the project of Long Hau 3 Industrial Park, the complex of Long An Port; the district focuses on implementing well the resettlement, stabilizing the lives of people in the land acquisition area as well as effectively implementing the program of socio-economic development and transport infrastructure connecting the district and neighboring districts of Ho Chi Minh City such as Binh Chanh, Nha Be, Can Gio to create a new thrust for the district in socio-economic development./.
