The event was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and former Politburo members, including former President Truong Tan Sang, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, former permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Secretariat Le Hong Anh, along with Politburo members: National Assembly Standing vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC's Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.
Also attending were members of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Secretariat: President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man, Head of the PCC’s Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Hoa Binh, and Chairman of the PCC’s Inspection Commission Tran Cam Tu; along with Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Uong Chu Luu and representatives from Laos and delegates of central ministries and departments, and provinces and cities nationwide and heroic Vietnamese Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, veterans, war invalids, soldiers, former youth volunteers and the relatives of martyrs.

Addressing the event, PM Phuc said that Dong Loc victory was the victory of patriotism, showing the traditional indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people. The examples of selflessness for the motherland and the heroes and martyrs' great sacrifices are a source of eternal pride, providing great encouragement for generations of Vietnamese people in the struggle for national independence, sovereignty, unity, territory integrity.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the PM called on ministries, agencies and localities, agencies, organisations, enterprises and people all over the country to jointly take better care of the families of war invalids, sick soldiers, martyrs, veterans, former volunteers and people who contributed meritorious services to the revolution.

On the occasion, Politburo member and National Assembly Standing vice Chairwoman, Tong Thi Phong, handed over the Resolution of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on recognising Dong Loc as Dong Loc town.
The ceremony was followed by an art programme featuring a number of songs and dances praising the country and honouring the bravery of soldiers and young volunteers who laid down their lives in the struggle for national liberation and reunification./.
