Connecting import-export supply chain of Long An province in 2024

On November 14, Long An Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize a conference to connect the import and export supply chain of Long An province in 2024.

This is the second time the Provincial People's Committee has coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize this event. The conference was held at Thong Nhat Hall of Long An province and connected online with the Vietnam Trade Office in Guangzhou - China.

The conference was attended by Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - Mai Van Nhieu, leaders of departments and branches of Long An province. The import-export connection conference attracted the attention of many delegates, businesses, and organizations, especially with the participation of diplomatic agencies, counselors, businesses from other countries and delegates from provinces and cities across the country.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade - Phan Thi Thang assessed that in 2024, the world situation continues to face many complicated developments, with many potential risks threatening the stability and development of global trade. However, Long An is one of the provinces actively integrating, making efforts to adapt, and flexibly implementing strategies to stabilize production and business; promoting trade connection activities and expanding consumption markets.

This is an opportunity for export enterprises of Long An province to explore the potential and advantage of countries around the world, and at the same time grasp information about market standards and regulations, thereby finding specific solutions to promote business activities.

For domestic and foreign corporations, distributors, and foreign enterprises participating directly and online, this is also an opportunity to approach and evaluate the production and supply capacity of Long An province's enterprises as well as the potential and advantages of the province, including the development of the local logistics system such as transportation, warehousing services and other support solutions.

Ms. Thang believes that through the exchange, discussion, direct and online connection sessions, this conference will not only promote products, brands, and investment environment of Long An province, but also be a premise to promote trade, connect and establish long-term partnerships; consolidate and expand current supply chains, build new supply chains in a more sustainable direction, contributing to bringing key products of Long An in particular and Vietnam in general further in the global value chain.

To support businesses in seeking export market opportunities, units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade disseminated a lot of information such as the export situation in 2024, opportunities and challenges for exports in the coming time, potential and requirements for exports to Singapore, Japan, India, Korea, China.

On this occasion, representatives of enterprises in Long An introduced their production capacity and market demand, wishing to continue expanding cooperation with international partners, not only in the field of export but also in technology transfer and investment in industrial processing projects. This will help enterprises in Long An have better access to modern technologies and improve the quality of export products.

Through the conference to promote the connection of the import and export supply chain, 4 memorandums of understanding were signed, including: Long An Department of Industry and Trade and Zenith Group on research and support for the development of the trade sector in the province; Long An Provincial Business Association and Singapore Meat Entrepreneurs Association; Saigon Tel and P&G Tech Co. LTD on the development of the Data Center Project at Long An Green Industrial Park; Thang Loi Group and Dolphin Logistic Group (Korea) on the establishment of a joint venture to develop Logistic services, logistics warehouses for import and export.

Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Minh Lam, on behalf of the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, thanked the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the support in providing solutions to facilitate businesses in connecting trade, expanding consumption markets, and developing production and business activities. He requested the units signing the memorandum to actively implement and realize the signed content to bring about practical results.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Lam emphasized that, with the spirit of "accompanying - developing - integrating", the province's viewpoint of "the success of enterprises is also the success of the province", the leaders of Long An province pledged to continue to improve the investment environment strongly and substantially, creating the most favorable conditions for domestic and foreign enterprises to promote trade, expand cooperation, develop production and business activities in the province and achieve more success.

After the success of the 2023 Long An Export Promotion and Trade Connection Conference, Long An has welcomed many business delegations from other countries to seek opportunities for trade cooperation and export promotion. Up to now, the situation of attracting investment, import and export activities of enterprises in Long An have increased and achieved many positive results.

Currently, Long An has 19,245 enterprises with a total registered capital of more than 390,000 billion VND, including 2,244 domestic investment projects with a total registered capital of more than 473,000 billion VND. In the first 10 months of 2024, the province attracted 95 FDI projects with a registered capital of more than 640 million USD, bringing the total number of FDI projects to 1,366 with a total registered capital of more than 12.5 billion USD. The province also ranks 10th nationwide in attracting FDI.

Regarding import-export turnover in the first 10 months of 2024, Long An achieved about 10.7 billion USD. In the whole year of 2024, it is estimated that exports will reach 7.5 billion USD and imports will reach 5.4 billion USD.

With the above results and the increasing industrial scale, it can be affirmed that Long An province is the common destination for large import-export activities of domestic and foreign enterprises./.
