On July 28, a Government delegation led by Deputy PM - Vu Duc Dam came to check the situation and results of implementing the Covid-19 prevention and control in Long An province. Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council – Nguyen Van Duoc received and worked with the delegation.

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, by 6:00 am on July 28, 2021, Long An province recorded 4,575 cases of Covid-19, including 4,559 cases in the community (specifically 2,872 cases detected in the community, 1,217 cases in the blockade area, 470 cases in the isolation area) and 16 entry cases. 3,862 cases have been granted patient codes by the Ministry of Health.

Currently, the province is treating 3,251 cases, transferring hospitals 4 cases; cured 439 cases (13.5 percent), 42 deaths (0.98 percent). In which, the number of mechanical ventilation cases is 15, the number of oxygen breathing is 132, the number of symptomatic cases is 184, the number of asymptomatic cases is 1,942 (59.7 percent).

Since July 19, 2021, Long An has implemented Directive No. 16/CT-TTg, so the number of cases tends to decrease. The three districts with the highest number of cases are Can Giuoc, Duc Hoa and Ben Luc. The cluster of cases at Long An General Hospital arising from June 29, 2021 has been basically controlled (68 cases).

Regarding F0 cases in the community, the province has implemented tracing 11,262 F1s, 16,913 F2s and 32,765 F3s. Up to now, the province has established and activated 57 concentrated isolation areas, with the isolation capacity of about 11,500 beds, including 47 civil and military isolation areas; 10 accommodation establishments - hotels; put into operation 32 isolation areas, with a capacity of 6,410 people (isolating 2,553 people); isolate at home 7,908 people; implemented a blockade of 496 places, with 17,696 people (the blockade ended at 79 places, with 3,346 people).

Regarding testing and screening in the community, the province has 25 medical facilities with 224 sampling teams with the capacity of 44,800 samples per day. There are 47 testing facilities, with the capacity such as rapid antigen test with 15,100 samples per day; PCR test with 2,350 single samples per day and 11,750 pooled samples per day.

Currently, the province focuses on implementing a large-scale testing and screening campaign in the community, focusing on industrial parks and clusters and crowded areas (inns, residential areas, etc.). As a result, 86,732 turns were tested, 4,454 cases were detected, the rate was 5.1 percent.

For treatment, Chairman of Long An People's Committee - Nguyen Van Ut said that the whole province has 16 facilities performing the task of isolating and treating F0 cases, with a total capacity of 5,070 beds. The number of deaths increased sharply (42 cases), due to the patients transferred to the hospitals were often in severe situations, some patients had underlying diseases, elderly and their diseases progressed rapidly.

In order to strengthen epidemic prevention and control, the province has implemented social distancing measures according to Directive No. 16/CT-TTg dated March 31, 2020 by the PM for 5 key localities since July 8, 2021 and applied throughout the province from 0:00 on July 19, 2021.

In the first 9 days of implementing social distancing according to Directive No. 16/CT-TTg across the province, the epidemic situation has become very complicated and unpredictable. The number of new cases increased continuously (2,295 cases) due to the province's promotion of screening tests in the community (average of about 300 cases per day, the top was on July 20, 2021 with 517 cases).

In order to quickly control, control and proceed to end the epidemic as soon as possible, from July 27, 2021, the province advocates calling and asking all people to minimize going out; Shops and business establishments must close from 6p.m. to 6p.m. daily. At the same time, the province deployed barriers at gateways, important connection areas between localities and controlled day and night to limit unnecessary movement of people.

For vaccination work, the Provincial People's Committee informed that the province has organized 3 injection phases, so far, it is implementing phases 4, 5 and 6; in which the 6th phase is injected for workers.

In which, the 1st shot was injected to 50,465 people and enough 2nd shot for 11,974 people, ensuring the priority people according to the Government's Resolution No. 21/NQ-CP dated February 26, 2021.

Deputy PM - Vu Duc Dam highly appreciated Long An's efforts in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic over the past time. However, due to the high number of cases, the epidemic situation is still very complicated, the Deputy PM suggested that Long An needed to develop a long-term anti-epidemic plan, determined to maintain the "green zone" as the area has no cases and is divided, the management segment in the "red zones" is the area where Covid-19 cases have been reported.

According to the Deputy PM, in the next two weeks, Long An needs to continue to strictly implement Directive No. 16/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister, minimize movement out of the community and facilitate tracing, zoning to end the epidemic. At the same time, the Deputy PM also asked Long An to be ready to provide aid conditions for Ho Chi Minh City when necessary such as supporting food and foodstuffs each other to overcome the pandemic./.
