Welcoming and working with the delegation, Long An provincial Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - Pham Van Ranh, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Tran Van Can, members of the Provincial Standing Committee of Party Committee and leaders of departments and provincial sectors.

Chairman of the provincial People's Committee - Tran Van Can reported the Government delegation that the province's economy continued to develop stably, the total output of the province in the first 6 months reached nearly 40,000 billion VND, the growth rate reached 9.89 percent. In particular, Region I increased by 2.17 percent, Region II increased by 14.65 percent, Region III increased by 7.5 percent. In the first 7 months, the total budget revenue in the province reached 10,182 billion VND, accounting for 74.41 percent of the estimate assigned by the Central and 74.09 percent of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council. Breakthrough programs and key projects to implement the Resolution of Provincial Party Congress X ensured according to the plan. The fields of culture - society continue to achieve new development steps.

Regarding the situation of collective economic and cooperative development (cooperatives), the whole province has had nearly 1,500 cooperative groups with nearly 29,000 members; 210, including 196 cooperatives in operation and 14 ones in temporarily stopping operation or in the process of dissolution by the end of 2018. In addition, the province also has 4 Unions of cooperatives with 22 members of cooperatives. According to the assessment, in addition to the dynamic and strongly reforming cooperatives, cooperatives and cooperative groups are mainly in small scale, uneven production activities, not yet dynamic, slow to overcome difficulties and are limited in contribution to the state budget.

New-style rural face in Long An has many flourishes

For the National Target Program on New-style Rural Development (NRD), there have been 77 communes meeting the NRD standards up to now, accounting for 46.6 percent, the average of the province reaches 16.5 - 17 criteria per commune; Long An province is striving to the end of this year to have has 2 communes meeting the standards of advanced NRD. In addition, the province has completed the dossier submitted to the Central Government for appraisal and recognition of Chau Thanh district to meet NRD district standards and is completing the application for recognition of Tan An city completed the task of building NRD.

At the conference, Long An province also raised many opinions and recommendations to the ministries and central branches. Accordingly, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Tran Van Can suggested that the Central Government should continue to improve and remove a number of difficulties related to the fields of public investment, finance, health, natural resources – environment, industry and trade. However, the province is currently facing difficulties in the implementation process. In particular, in the field of industry and trade, Long An province proposed to the Central Government to supplement the adjustment of the national grid development plan of Long An Thermal Power Center from using coal electricity to using CNG or LPG and raising the capacity of Long An Thermal Power Center to 6,400 MW.

For specific projects, Long An province recommends that the Central Government soon allocate medium-term reserve capital to localities allocating the central medium-term contingency capital as well as soon allocating all the government bond capital in the period 2014-2016 for the project along the Channel 79.

In addition, the Central Government will soon supplement capital for urgent anti-landslide embankments in the Mekong Delta region which has been arranged by the Central Government from the central budget reserve capital. In particular, Long An province has 3 urgent works, including the embankment project in Dong Thanh town of Duc Hue district; Can Giuoc river bank erosion treatment project of Can Giuoc district and landslide treatment project in Rach Chanh hamlet in Loi Binh Nhon commune ofTan An city.

For projects on inter-region, Long An province requests the Ministry of Transport to add the dynamic axis project of Ho Chi Minh City - Long An - Tien Giang to the Vietnam Road Traffic Development Planning, developing transportation in the southern key economic region and key economic region in Mekong River Delta.

At the same time, the Central Government and the Ministry of Transport are suggested to soon allocate capital to implement Ho Chi Minh Road Projects (section from Chon Thanh to Duc Hoa); National highway N1 connecting Long An - Dong Thap - An Giang; Highway 62 project connecting Highway 1 - Ho Chi Minh City Highway, Trung Luong - Highway N2 - Highway N1 - Binh Hiep International Border Gate and project on Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4 - Ho Chi Minh City.

At the meeting, representatives of ministries and central agencies also informed Long An province about some difficulties and obstacles as well as answered some recommendations and proposals of Long An province to the Central.

Speaking at the meeting, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister - Vuong Dinh Hue highly appreciated the achievements of Long An province in all fields. Deputy Prime Minister - Vuong Dinh Hue said that Long An province has a very favorable position, potential in economic development and the fact shows that the economy of Long An has always been stable and is the locomotive province of the Mekong River Delta region over the past years. Therefore, Long An province needs to implement the longer-term provincial plan to soon make better use of the position adjacent to the dynamic economic development centers of the country such as Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast provinces. It aims at its self-balance the budget by 2021.

At the same time, Long An province needs to focus on completing the targets set by the Resolution during the term; pay more attention to the restructuring of State-owned Enterprises; the arrangement and streamline administrative apparatus. Besides, the province needs to focus on well implementing the work of preparing the Party Congress at all levels, towards the National Party Congress XIII.

Regarding the recommendations of Long An, the Deputy PM - Vuong Dinh Hue proposed the ministries, branches to study, propose and advise the PM to solve the difficulties and obstacles of Long An province.
