The province strengthens the inspection and supervision of environmental protection in industrial zones and clusters
Raise awareness of businesses in environmental protection
Thanks to its favorable geographical position and reasonable decisions and policies, Long An has gradually asserted itself as an attractive and effective investment destination. The province has 18 industrial parks and 23 industrial clusters in operation with an occupancy rate of about 86 - 87%. There are more than 14,000 enterprises in the province, making important contributions to the local socio-economic development. In addition to promoting investment attraction and industrial development, the province strictly directs environmental protection in production and business activities, especially in industrial parks and clusters. The province strengthens coordination, inspection, supervision and propaganda of the provisions of the law on environmental protection in order to raise the awareness and responsibility of enterprises.
In addition to promoting investment attraction and industrial development, the locality strengthens coordination, inspection, supervision and propaganda of the law on environmental protection in order to raise awareness, roles and responsibilities of enterprises.
Mr. Le Anh Hong - representative of Anh Hong Industrial Park Management Board (Duc Hoa district) said: The industrial park fully meets the provisions of the law on environmental protection. The wastewater treatment system meets the standards, ensures the receipt and treatment of all wastewater during the operation and production of secondary enterprises. We regularly renovate and upgrade the centralized wastewater treatment system to meet the wastewater treatment needs in the industrial park. Solid waste treatment is also strictly followed. Hazardous waste is managed, stored and disposed of according to regulations. The industrial park also signs a contract with a waste collection, transport and treatment unit; hazardous waste is dumped at a separate location before transportation and treatment. The industrial park has enough trees to beautify the landscape, make air conditioners, and protect the environment. Secondary enterprises strictly comply with regulations; invest in works to collect and treat emissions, solid waste and hazardous waste storage areas; contract with functional units to periodically transfer and handle according to regulations.
According to the representative of Tan Kim Industrial Park Management Board (expanded) in Can Giuoc district - Le Van Loc, the industrial parks strictly comply with regulations on environmental protection; complete the standard wastewater treatment system; treat all wastewater; sign a contract with a functional unit to collect and treat waste according to regulations. The industrial park also periodically reports on environmental protection to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for monitoring and inspection. With related issues (especially the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 which takes effect at the beginning of 2022) that secondary enterprises still have concerns, the industrial park will coordinate with functional sectors to answer and clarify.
Stop accepting some sectors and projects that have the potential to cause pollution
The province's viewpoint is that economic development is associated with environmental protection and not to trade off the environment for economic development. Departments, departments, branches and localities strengthen state management in specialized fields. At the same time, recently, thanks to the awareness and responsibility of enterprises, the environment in the industrial parks and industrial zones in the province have improved markedly. However, some businesses have not strictly implemented environmental protection, affect people's lives as well as the investment and business environment of the province.
According to the development orientation, the province will stop accepting fields and projects that are at risk of environmental pollution
Regarding this issue, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment - Nguyen Tan Thuan said: “The Department will strengthen coordination with relevant departments and agencies to regularly monitor and inspect (especially surprise checks) enterprises, including industrial zones; resolutely handle units that violate the law on environmental protection; focus on using monitoring technology by automatic monitoring system for large waste sources and high risk of pollution. The Department will also continue to urge and guide establishments that must install automatic monitoring systems to transmit data for monitoring and supervision. In addition, the Department will propagate the Law on Environmental Protection in 2020 to secondary enterprises.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Thuan, in order to develop a sustainable high-tech industry and limit the impact on the environment, the province's orientation is to attract investors and businesses that have modern and environmentally friendly production lines. The province also tightened the acceptance criteria and orientated to stop receiving the fields and projects that are at risk of causing environmental pollution into the industrial parks and zones. The Department also improves the quality of appraisal of reports on environmental impact assessment, environmental licensing appraisal, including project screening method. The Department will not accept projects and types of production that generate a lot of waste as well as have the potential to cause environmental pollution in order to gradually contribute to the development of green and environmentally friendly economic sectors.
In addition, the Department will focus on handling environmental pollution in rivers and canals; continue to monitor and inspect the collection, transportation and treatment of domestic waste in the localities; better manage industrial waste in the area. Currently, the province has 3 industrial clusters (Hoang Gia, Duc Hoa Dong, Duc Hoa Ha) that still have some environmental pollution problems. The Department will advise and propose specific measures; coordinate with departments, branches and localities to completely handle these issues./.
