GRDP of the Southwest provinces emulation cluster increases by over 6%

In his opening speech at the conference, Chairman of the Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee, 2nd Deputy Head of the Emulation Cluster - Le Van Han informed that the entire cluster has 7/12 provinces in the group of 30 provinces and cities with the best Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) nationwide, of which Long An broke through to rank 2nd nationwide.

He affirmed that the conference is for the provinces to learn, share experiences, and replicate new effective models to make emulation movements increasingly better and more comprehensive.

In the past 6 months, despite many difficulties, the provinces in the emulation cluster have made efforts to overcome difficulties, maintain growth rates, develop socio-economics, strengthen and ensure national defense and security. Many important targets have achieved over 50% of the annual plan.

The GRDP growth rate in the first 6 months of the provinces in the Cluster increased by an average of 6.38%, up 0.73% over the same period in 2023. Some provinces with high growth rates are Tra Vinh 10.27%, Hau Giang 8.04%, Ca Mau 6.96%, Kien Giang 6.84%, An Giang 6.6%.

The total budget revenue in the first 6 months of the whole Cluster is estimated at over 55,722 billion VND (the same period in 2023 reached 56,257 billion VND). Some provinces' budget revenue reached over 50% of the annual plan such as Tien Giang 64.6%, Long An 63.67%, Vinh Long 63.17%, An Giang 62.87%, Ben Tre 62.5%.

The export turnover of the Cluster is estimated at over 6.125 billion USD (the same period in 2023 was 10 billion USD). Some provinces achieved high export turnover such as Dong Thap, Ben Tre, Soc Trang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu.

The quality of education, health care, and social policies has been gradually improved. Administrative reform and digital transformation have received attention and focus. In particular, in the results of the digital transformation index (DTI), Long An ranked first, Hau Giang ranked second, Tien Giang ranked third, etc.

Many emulation movements with diverse forms create a spreading effect, suitable for the political tasks of each agency, unit, and locality. Rewarding work is transparent and fair, increasing rewards for those who are directly involved in labor and production.

Deputy Head of the Central Emulation and Reward Committee - Do Thuy Phuong acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the provinces in emulation and reward work in the first 6 months of the year. At the same time, she emphasized that 2024 is an important year in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025, towards the 14th National Party Congress.

Therefore, the provinces need to continue to replicate and promote typical activities, models, and examples, do better in emulation and reward work, and at the same time overcome remaining limitations.

On this occasion, the Department of Home Affairs of Long An province also approved a report summarizing the draft Regulations on organizing activities and evaluating emulation of the Emulation Cluster of the Southwest provinces in 2024./.
