Long An and Svay Rieng survey location for satellite port construction

On April 2, leaders of Long An - Svay Rieng provinces surveyed the location of building a satellite port directly between the two provinces in Binh Hiep commune, Kien Tuong town, Long An province.

Attending the survey, on Long An province side, there were Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Council - Nguyen Van Duoc; Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Van Ut and leaders of relevant departments and branches. On the side of Svay Rieng province, there was Mr. Sar Sodany - Deputy Governor of the province.

Accordingly, the Kongpong Ro satellite port project is built on Ro River, the border between Long An and Svay Rieng provinces. This is a convenient location connecting the two provinces next to the existing road route. The port has a strategic location near Binh Hiep International Border Gate. When established, it will help reduce road traffic pressure and open up the potential for waterway transport.

The survey team at the proposed location of the port

The proposed location for the port is about 5km from Vam Co Tay River and will connect goods from the border to Long An International Port. Up to now, Svay Rieng province is also promoting the construction of a goods gathering yard near the expected port construction area.

At the survey, Mr. Sar Sodany said that currently, Kongpong Ro district is focusing on promoting investment projects and will soon build 3 industrial parks. Therefore, port construction is essential not only to serve the district's export and import goods but also to directly connect the Trans-Asia traffic route, promoting the socio-economic development of the two localities. Mr. Sar Sodany also hopes that Long An province will pay attention and support so that the project can be implemented soon.
