Sector II (industry-construction) increases by 6.44 percent
In which, region I (agriculture, forestry and fishery) increased by 3.11 percent (that in 2020 it increased by 2.52 percent). The agricultural sector achieved a good growth rate, higher than that last year. In the first 6 months of the year, the weather conditions are relatively favorable; well implemented solutions to prevent and combat saline intrusion so that drought and saline intrusion do not cause much damage to production.
The main crop continued to develop and bring about the same efficiency as rice, especially the winter-spring rice crop, the yield of the whole crop was 6.65 tons per hectare, an increase of 1.4 quintals per hectare; dragon fruit output is estimated to increase by 2.12 percent over the same period; lemon production is estimated to increase by 20.86 percent over the same period, etc. Exploitation and aquaculture continue to bring efficiency; farmers strongly invested in developing the area of high-tech intensive shrimp farming with high productivity and output, an increase over the same period.
Sector II (industry - construction) increased by 6.44 percent (slight increase compared to the same period in 2020, the same period increased by 6.07 percent; much lower than the growth rate of the same period in 2019 of 13.95 percent). Some industries show signs of recovery; electricity production and distribution increased by 14.9 percent, construction industry increased by 10.4 percent; The processing and manufacturing industry has gradually been restored, but due to the complicated development of the Covid-19 epidemic, it has pushed up production costs of enterprises, thus it affects the overall growth of the industry.
Sector III (trade - services) increased by 7.24 percent (a fairly high increase over the same period, 2.05 percent in the same period). In the first months of the year, commercial and service activities were stable, and people's demand for shopping and consumption increased. However, by the end of May and the beginning of June, when Long An province appeared the first cases of Covid-19 in the community, most of the non-essential service activities in the province were halted to enhance food safety. Currently, measures to prevent and control the epidemic have greatly affected the overall growth of the industry.
This is a relatively low growth rate, not as expected but higher than the same period and a relatively good growth rate. Long An ranked 3rd out of 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta and ranked 4th out of 8 provinces and cities in the Southern Key Economic Region./.
