Long An province delegation studies semiconductor industry strategy in Taiwan (China)

Following the framework of the working trip, Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee - Pham Tan Hoa led the Provincial Delegation to study and attend training programs on human resource development in the semiconductor industry in Taiwan (China) from August 25 to 29.

The delegation included representatives from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Finance, the People's Committees of Duc Hoa, Duc Hue, Ben Luc, Can Giuoc districts and some lecturers from Long An College; the province's partners include: Open Innovation Center (SoiHub), FCC Partners China (Taiwan) and the Southeast Asia Influence Alliance (SIA).

On the morning of August 28, the delegation visited the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (China) (TIER). Working with the delegation was Dr. Ching Yu Tan - Director of the Institute of Digital Economics IX, Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (China).

The representative from TIER provided information on policies and support programs for the semiconductor industry in Taiwan (China), including tax policies, investment incentives, and research and development (R&D) support programs; supporting the shaping and adjustment of long-term development strategies for the Semiconductor industry, from developing new technologies to expanding international markets. The delegation exchanged information about the investment environment of Long An province.

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited Taipei University of Science and Technology. Working with the delegation was Professor Wang Si Fu - Principal of the school. At the meeting, the delegation learned about the contents related to the semiconductor field; models and methods of teaching and training engineers in the semiconductor field, effective cooperation models between the school and semiconductor enterprises, research institutes and the government to promote training, research and technology application.

At the same time, in the afternoon of the same day, the Organizing Committee summarized and issued a certificate of completion of the training course by Professor Frank Koo, Honorary Professor of Duong Minh Giao Thong University.

The delegation's program aims to study the practical implementation of semiconductor industry development strategies. The delegation worked with the Hsinchu City government to learn about the overall semiconductor industry of Taiwan (China), the roles of the parties in the ecosystem; the development of infrastructure and support policies to build a semiconductor ecosystem in Hsinchu; and the building of the city to become an important link in the global semiconductor industry.

The delegation also met with the Hsinchu High-Tech Park Management Board; semiconductor associations; schools, research and training institutes of semiconductors; semiconductor chip design, packaging, testing companies, etc to learn about the actual models and implementation experiences of Taiwan (China) in the past, etc.

At the same time, the delegation learned about the strategies and implementation processes from the formation of project ideas, the initial research stage to the commercialization stage and practical application to orientate the agreements and cooperation programs with international partners and foreign-invested enterprises operating in Vietnam in supporting educational institutions and vocational training institutions to orient the fields and occupations that need workers, improve vocational skills in the field of human resource training to serve the semiconductor industry for students as well as the practical basis for building a human resource development project and orienting training programs in the semiconductor industry in the province in the coming time./.
