Prof., Ph.D - Nguyen Ngoc Hai presented the situation of ASF causing great impact on the livestock sector
Prof., Ph.D - Nguyen Ngoc Hai (Ho Chi Minh City Agriculture and Forestry University) and leaders of localities, agricultural division and bio-safety breeding households in the province participating the conference.
At the conference, Prof., Ph.D - Nguyen Ngoc Hai presented the situation of ASF occurring in the world. When ASF penetrated into Vietnam, it caused great impacts on the livestock sector; he proposes the response solutions when diseases occur.
According to the Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Livestock, Veterinary and Fisheries - Duong Minh Phi, ASF currently occurs in southern provinces such as Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Hau Giang, so the risk that the disease occurs in the province is very high. Therefore, districts, towns and cities in the province should strengthen inspection and supervision of slaughterhouses in the area, vehicles transporting animals through quarantine stations.
At the same time, the breeding households and farms are strengthened guidance to regularly clean the barn at least twice a week; perform "5 no": No epidemic hide; no buying, selling and transporting sick pigs; no consumption and slaughter of sick pigs and dead pigs; no throwing dead pigs into the environment; and no use of leftover for pigs without heat treatment. When pigs with abnormal signs are detected, people must immediately report to local authorities and veterinary agencies.
Deputy Director of Long An DARD - Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh highly appreciated the active prevention and control of ASF by localities. She suggested that localities should review the Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of epidemics, rapid response teams to make plans and measures to be ready to respond when epidemics occur, change from prevention to fight against epidemics so that it is not passive; for localities with small-scale slaughterhouses, which do not guarantee safety, they need the measures to bring pigs to centralized slaughtering facilities; strengthen propaganda for breeding households and livestock farms to master basic knowledge about prevention and fight against ASF./.
