Long An players play impressively with enthusiasm, bringing excitement to football fans

Long An football overcomes difficulties

At the end of the 2023-2024 season, Long An football fans could not help but feel sad when hearing the news that the team would not be able to continue to play in the professional arena. Along with Western Vietnam football, after many years of trying, Long An football could not escape the money spiral.

Lack of sponsors and insufficient resources have caused Long An football to decline. Maintaining competition in the First Division in recent years is also a great effort of leaders and sponsors.

However, after the previous season, Long An Football Joint Stock Company also admitted that it could not afford the costs and sent a letter requesting not to register to participate in the professional football tournament. This is not only the sadness of Long An football but also the general situation of Western Vietnam football.

It seemed that Long An football would no longer be on the professional football map, but luck came at the last moments. With the active advocacy of the provincial leaders, sponsors agreed to continue sponsoring the team to participate in the National First Division in the 2024-2025 season.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club also agreed to support to revive Long An football. Once again, Long An football was revived with new expectations. Entering the new season, with a team of mostly enthusiastic young players, through each match, the players left a very positive impression on the fans.

“For a loyal fan of the team like me, at the beginning of the season I did not have much hope for the young players, but through each match, what the young players showed on the field, especially their spirit and enthusiasm for competition, proved that Long An football is still very attractive. I hope that in the second phase of the season, the team will achieve better results and continue to maintain their position in the First Division next season" - Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duc (Tan An City) said.

More spectators

If in recent seasons, each time Long An team played at home, the number of spectators coming to the stadium was only a few hundred people or up to more than 1,000 people, this season, that number increases significantly.

In particular, in the match against Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc at home, 2/3 of the A stands were packed with fans. There were even spectators from other provinces who came to watch and cheer for Long An team.

Sitting in the corner of the stands, Mr. Tran Hung Thuan (Chau Thanh district, Ben Tre province) watched every ball. Sometimes he stood up, holding his head in regret every time an opportunity was missed or clapping his hands in celebration when a goal came. For him, football in the West still leaves its own identity and mark.

“This is the second time this season I have come to Long An Stadium to cheer for the team. The whole Western region now has only 2 teams participating in professional football, so for a football fan like me, even though the long distance, I will arrange to go to Long An or Dong Thap to cheer” - Mr. Tran Hung Thuan shared.

In this year's season, after 8 rounds, Long An team ranked 7th on the National First Division rankings with 6 points. Of which, the team won 1 match, drew 3 matches and lost 3 matches. Although the team's results were not really good, the players' performance left a good impression on fans, hoping that in the near future, Long An football will revive strongly./.
