Deputy Head of the Management Board of Quan Thanh De temple - Huynh Nghiep Tan said that the temple is a religious place of the Chinese community in the province. It was built in the late XIXth century. The main deity worshiped in the temple is Quan Thanh De Quan (Guan Gong or Guan Yu) - a historical character in the Three Kingdoms period who is admired by the Chinese for loyalty and heroic spirit.

Initially, the temple was built from materials from China. By 1916, after the life of the Chinese community in the province was stable, they used locally available materials and techniques to restore the temple. Due to the effects of storms and floods, the temple was degraded and repaired many times (the last time was repaired in 1990).

The temple is also a reliable address in local charitable activities. Annually, the Temple Management Board contributes to the Fund for the Poor; supports the construction of gratitude houses and charity houses for the poor; visits and offers many gifts to disadvantaged families and households; participates in natural disaster relief at home and abroad.

Director of Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism - Nguyen Anh Dung asserted: “The temple is not only a place where many Vietnamese - Chinese compatriots come to worship but also mark the settlement and development of the Chinese community in Long An province. Currently, the temple still preserves many antiques dating back hundreds of years, confirming the exchange and continuation of Vietnamese - Chinese culture. Because of such typical historical and cultural values, Quan Thanh De temple is ranked as a provincial-level historical relic”./.
