Step by step building Long An into a logistics center

Exploiting and promoting existing potentials and advantages along with investing in infrastructure systems, Long An gradually becomes the industrial and service center of the Mekong Delta and a focal point for logistics activities of southern provinces and cities.

Favorable conditions for logistics activities

Long An has a strategic geographical location at the intersection of the Mekong Delta and the Southeast Region, bordering Cambodia. Geo-economic advantages make Long An a gateway on the urban-industrial economic corridor of the Mekong Delta, closely connected with Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast Region, an important trade hub with Cambodia for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development.

The province prioritizes the development and connection of the transport system to promote transportation and trade

In recent years, the province has focused on investing, upgrading and completing infrastructure, especially traffic infrastructure. Industry in the province is concentrated in convenient locations by road and river. The province's seaport planning can receive ships of 50,000 tons, in the future capable of receiving ships over 70,000 tons, even 100,000 tons. Ready-built factories are a strength of industrial zones and clusters in the province.

Logistics services, trade promotion, market expansion, supermarkets, distribution facilities, markets, convenience stores, etc are focused on to gradually meet the needs of the people. The border gates in the area are convenient to develop services and trade by sea.

On the other hand, Long An also increases its attractiveness to investors with Long An International Port - one of the largest seaports in the southern region, meeting the demand of exporting, importing raw materials and goods for production and business activities in the region.

Long An International Port belongs to the master plan of nearly 1,935 hectares of 4 projects in Can Giuoc district, including: 396 hectares of industrial park; 239 hectares of service-industrial area, 1,145 hectares of urban area and 147 hectares of seaport. This is a harmonious combination, forming a seaport service complex along with ancillary works and facilities that are constantly being expanded, bringing outstanding value to the whole area.

The development of Long An International Port not only promotes investment attraction and development of industrial zones and clusters in the area, but also contributes to reducing traffic congestion as well as reducing the load on the port cluster in Ho Chi Minh City; shortening time, reducing transportation costs, indirectly increasing the competitiveness of enterprises, meeting the increasing import and export demand of Long An province in particular and the Mekong Delta in general.

Long An International Port aims to provide the most complete services of seaport, modern logistics, transportation, storage, warehousing and value-added services (In the photo: Leaders of the province and the delegation of California state government takes souvenir photos on the working trip at Long An International Port)

According to Chairman of Board of Directors of Dongtam Group, Chairman of Provincial Business Association - Vo Quoc Thang, Long An International Port aims to provide the most complete service of seaports, modern logistics, transportation and warehousing, storage and value-added services.

The port is invested with the most modern equipment, fully digitized in operation. It is a favorable condition to reduce logistics costs.

We will constantly invest in expanding, meeting the requirements of safe and effective exploitation, meeting the needs of customers to the fullest.

The port project cluster also brings certain benefits to Long An province in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general from attracting investment, optimizing logistics costs, reducing product costs, and increasing the competitiveness of goods in the region, contributing to the creation of new urban areas, improving people's living standards, retaining local workers and having many social meanings.

According to the representative of Tan An Agricultural Products Processing and Exporting Company Limited, the company operates in the field of import and export with the main product being cashew nuts. Currently, the Company's products are present in most countries around the world.

Long An converges many factors, favorable conditions for logistics activities, promoting goods trade and transportation. However, logistics activities and related services in the province still have certain limitations and have fully exploited. The company proposed localities to focus resources to promote the development of logistics systems, form supply chains, trade links, have specific policies to encourage investment in the logistics industry, etc.

Building Long An into a logistics center

In the period of 2015-2020, the province has deployed, synchronously implemented, and completed the transportation infrastructure system to serve industrial development in key economic regions vital transportation projects located in the areas of key economic districts: Ben Luc, Duc Hoa, Can Giuoc, Can Duoc. These routes connect synchronously to industrial parks and clusters, Long An International Port and connect to traffic routes of Ho Chi Minh City.

The highlight is the Provincial Road 830 connecting 4 districts in the province's key economic region to Long An International Port has been completed and put into use. During the 2020-2025 period, the province continues to mobilize all resources to build a synchronous transport infrastructure system to serve industrial and urban development in key economic regions with the completion of many strategic transportation projects, promoting local socio-economic development.

In addition, the province has planned two inland ports: Ben Luc port in Ben Luc district, with an area of 10-15 hectares, capacity of 150,000 Teu/year; Tan Lap port in Thu Thua district, with an area of 10-15 hectares, capacity of 150,000 Teu/year. The province has formed 10 logistics centers to promote economic exchanges between Long An and other provinces and cities in the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta region in the districts of Can Giuoc, Ben Luc, Chau Thanh, Can Duoc, Duc Hue, Tan Tru and Kien Tuong town; researched to build a logistics center in Duc Hoa district.

Hopefully, with the proposed plans and efforts in investing in the infrastructure system, Long An will gradually become an important industrial and service center of the Mekong Delta region and a focal point for logistics activities of provinces and cities in the Southern region./.
