Support establishments to develop OCOP products

One Commune One Product (OCOP) is an economic development program for rural areas in the direction of developing internal resources and increasing value. Over time, with the support of all levels, industries and the efforts of establishments, Long An's OCOP products have gradually improved in quality, gradually asserting their brand in the market.

Implement multiple solutions

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, after more than 4 years of implementing the OCOP program, up to now, the entire Long An province has 147 3-4 stars OCOP products, including 40 4 stars products and 107 3-stars products on groups: Food, beverages, herbs and handicrafts.

To achieve this result, in recent times, along with the efforts of OCOP establishments, all levels and sectors in the province have implemented many solutions to support and improve their capacity in producing OCOP products.

By early 2024, Vinh Hung district had 3 OCOP products with 3-star certification, including dried and sugar-soaked canarium in Vinh Binh commune, and DTM purple jasmine rice product in Vinh Thuan commune. This year, the district continues to support 2 establishments registering OCOP products of dried fish and green-skinned grapefruit, aiming to achieve 3-4 stars.

In recent years, the district has always paid attention and promoted support for OCOP establishments with many practical solutions. In particular, the district supports establishments with 3-star OCOP products from the budget of the National Target Program on new rural construction and rural industry support.

Ngoc Lan Food Processing Facility (Vinh Hung district) has 9 3-star OCOP products

Owning 9 3-star OCOP products (7 in Ben Luc district and 2 in Vinh Hung district), Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Lan - owner of Ngoc Lan Food Processing Facility (Vinh Binh commune, Vinh Hung district), said that the number of products sold on the market increased thanks to the support of the OCOP stamp affixed. At the same time, the facility also received advice from the district's specialized sector on production lines, contributing to reducing labor, increasing profits, perfecting form, helping products increase competitiveness in the market, etc.

In particular, after achieving OCOP certification, products are widely promoted at trade promotions, attracting more and more customers.

In addition, Vinh Hung district also pays attention and promotes support for OCOP establishments with many other practical solutions such as coordinating with relevant departments and branches in the province to support purchasing equipments for production, helping the facilities complete its production line.

Director of Vinh Thuan Agricultural Cooperative (Vinh Thuan commune, Vinh Hung district) - Nguyen Thi Dieu Ngan shared, currently the cooperative has a 3-star DTM purple jasmine rice OCOP product. On average each month, the cooperative provides about 500kg of purple jasmine rice to the market. “Currently, because there is no grain separator, a little white rice is mixed in the product, limiting our market.

Recently, the district's specialized sectors have supported the cooperative with 50% the expense of the grain separator, while the remaining 50% being applied for a preferential loan. I firmly believe that owning a grain separator will help the my DTM purple jasmine rice brand reach further" - Ms. Ngan added.

With nearly 40 hectares of GlobalGAP seedless lemons produced organically and applying modern technology, Chanh Viet Trading and Investment Joint Stock Company (Thanh Loi commune, Ben Luc district) researchs and processes lemon products such as lemon powder, lemon sauce, lemon essential oil,etc. These products have been certified by the Provincial People's Committee as 4-star OCOP products. In addition to being widely consumed in the domestic market, the company's products are also exported to many markets around the world, including demanding markets such as Europe.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chanh Viet Trading and Investment Joint Stock Company - Nguyen Van Hien said that on average every month, the company exports about 10,000 tons of products to other countries. Since participating in OCOP products, the business has achieved many positive results, product quality, packaging design and sales volume have increased significantly. “The company's products are being sold through many domestic and foreign e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Tiki, Lazada as well as e-commerce platform of the Department of Industry and Trade, and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. In addition, the company also has distributors across the country to bring products closer to consumers" - Mr. Hien added.

Increase trade promotion

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Chau Thi Le, to support and connect to find outlets for the province's OCOP products, in recent times, the sector has regularly participated in foreign promotion programs organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade; at the same time, they also send key products of the province to participate in fairs in foreign markets.

In addition, the sector also cooperates with many export consulting businesses to introduce Long An's products to markets around the world.

Along with efforts to find export markets, the province also implemented many solutions to develop the domestic market, promote goods circulation, and improve the connection between production and the market along the supply chain such as provide information on goods supply, especially agricultural products of the province, to the Ministry of Industry and Trade; coordinate trade counselors in many countries to connect consumption of agricultural products; Introduce Long An businesses to participate in stabilizing markets in major provinces and cities in the country; etc.

In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize many seminars and conferences on trade promotion to promote OCOP products on e-commerce platforms; support the producers of OCOP products in terms of equipment and machinery, build a product brand recognition system and standardize product quality, improve designs and packaging to meet export standards.

Up to now, many of the province's products are sold at large supermarkets, convenience stores and are gradually approaching foreign markets.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh informed that up to this point, the program has brought many positive results. The most easily noticeable thing is the packaging, product labels as participants will receive support in designing packaging, QR codes, traceability stamps, etc.

Along with that, OCOP products are also commercialized and regularly promoted and introduced at trade fairs, exhibitions, promotion conferences, etc. At the same time, OCOP establishments are also supported and connected with many customers in many domestic and foreign markets.

“In the coming time, the sector will focus on supporting establishments to improve quality and production capacity to meet the development needs of the market by applying basic standards and product quality management systems; building a model for OCOP product development along the value chain based on developing local potential and advantages; supporting OCOP establishments to participate in activities connecting supply and demand and promote product consumption through the e-commerce platform" - Ms. Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh added./.
