Vietnamese, RoK artists to join dance show in Ho Chi Minh City

The performances will be choreographed by artist Chun Yoo-oh from the RoK and staged by the Y.O Saigon Dance Ensemble with over 10 Vietnamese and RoK dancers. 

They will stage eight dances featuring the life of a woman in a contemporary style via choreography, colour effects, lighting, and video installation. 

Born in Masan port and growing up in Busan of the RoK, Chun graduated from the Sunhwa Arts High School and went on to obtain an arts doctorate from the Ewha Womans University. She then studied Labanotation, recording and analysing human movement, in the UK before obtaining another PhD in analysis of movement from the University of Surrey.

She worked at Seowon University as a professor in the dance department from 1991 to 2004. Her main dance works are “Woman who Loved Passionately”, “Oscillation”, “Staring”, and “The Joy”.

In 2014, she choreographed and acted in Arirang Saigon at the Opera House. She later introduced the dance routine “Myth of Woman” in Ho Chi Minh City in 2016 to honour women and the “Kieu dance” in 2018./.
