The event, scheduled to take place in Hanoi on November 10 and in HCM City on November 24, aims to raise funds that could save the lives of 180 young patients.

In addition to the road races, an online page has been launched as part of the fundraiser, attracting over 1,500 people and donations worth more than 200 million VND (8,602 USD) to date.

The event – an initiative of Heartbeat Vietnam, VinaCapital Foundation’s health care program – has been held six times, raising more than 23 billion VND (1 million USD) and helping 900 children nationwide receive free heart surgery.

It attracts an average of 10,000 to 15,000 participants every year.

According to a research conducted by VinaCapital Foundation, about 16,000 Vietnamese babies are born with congenital heart defects every year, of which 7,500 cases need medical intervention. The operations cost from 50 to 250 million VND./.
