20 years of building cultural life: Long An has 125 out of 188 communes, wards and towns meeting cultural standards

Over the past 20 years, the "All people unite to build cultural life" movement in the province has achieved many good results, especially the movement to build communes, wards and towns to meet cultural standards associated with the program of building new rural.

Up to now, the whole province has 97.2 percent of families reaching cultural standards; 97.7 percent of hamlets and neighborhoods meet the cultural standards, urban civilization; 125/188 communes, wards and towns meet cultural standards (reaching 66.4 percent). Over the past years, the people's material and spiritual life has had many positive changes, built a civilized lifestyle, gradually eliminated backward customs and superstitions.

The people of the whole province have promoted solidarity, helping each other to develop the economy and reduce poverty. Over the past 20 years, more than 12,000 typical individuals and households that actively participated in the patriotic emulation movement of branches, levels and localities were commended and rewarded.

The whole province has built over 8,000 houses of gratitude, over 10,000 houses of great unity and repaired more than 1,000 ones. State and people together build over 3,000 rural bridges, repair and upgrade over 2,400 kilometers of roads. People have donated over 389 million square meters of land, contributed over 1 million working days and over 1,848 billion VND to movements in the whole province. Rural appearance is more spacious with electricity works, roads, schools, stations, etc. creating a solid foundation for building new rural in the locality.

Vice-Chairman of Provincial People's Committee - Pham Tan Hoa acknowledged the achievements of the movement. He asked the steering committees at all levels to continue maintaining the achieved results, promote propaganda by many methods. In addition, the emulation should be done well and the assessment must be transparent, democratic, etc.

In order to recognize the efforts of collectives and individuals in the movement "All people unite to build cultural life in the period 2000 - 2020", the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 40 outstanding collectives and 55 individuals. At the provincial end-point bridge, 10 collectives and 10 individuals of the provincial units were awarded certificates of merit at the conference./.
