Can Giuoc completes site clearance over 171 hectares since 2016

Secretary of Long An province Party Committee Pham Van Ranh requires agencies to work with localities to speed up compensation, site clearance and resettlement

The district now lures lots of investment projects in industrial parks. It has focused on resettlement work to stabilize the lives of residents with properties withdrawn to clear the site for projects.

Since early 2016, the district has paid compensation to nearly 1,400 households with the total amount of VND875 billion, cleared over 171 hectares of land to hand over to investors.

However, compensation, site clearance and resettlement has been slow and met with difficulties. The Land Law 2013 does not permit project implementation unless resettlement sites are built. Because Can Giuoc is adjacent to HCMC so land price fluctuation has raised, causing difficulties in compensation specially to half done and behind schedule projects.

District leaders proposed the province to guide local authorities to implement the Land Law,  adjust land prices in a timely manner, carefully assess the ability of investors before approving projects for better site clearance, compensation and site clearance. 

In addition the province should propose the central government to amend and supplement some articles in the Land Law to suit practice.

Mr. Ranh required relevant agencies to intensify coordination to grasp and solve difficulties; speed up site clearance, compensation and resettlement to start work on projects and prevent lateness and land waste to occur and raise public objection.

To some projects which have run behind schedule because of the weak capacity of investors, Mr.Ranh asked to inspect, report to authorized agencies and consult them on solutions to quickly implement or revoke license according to regulations./.
