The province has consolidated the commanding committee for natural disaster prevention and control, and search and rescue at all levels; training to improve capacity”.

In addition, the province develops a response plan corresponding to levels of natural disaster risk in accordance with the Guidebook issued together with Decision No. 02/QD-TWPCTT dated February 18, 2020 of the Head of the Central Steering Committee on disaster prevention and control; natural disaster prevention and control under the 4-at-site motto, especially the necessary measures to ensure the safety of people's lives, and to minimize damage, are focused.
In the dry season 2019 - 2020, drought and saline intrusion take place on a large scale, causing great damage to infrastructure, property and production of the people. From the beginning of 2020, drought and saline intrusion have affected the shortage of water for domestic use, about 7,290 households and more than 2,700 hectares of rice and vegetables in Winter-Spring crop were affected, landslides in districts of Tan Tru, Thu Thua, Can Giuoc, Can Duoc and Thanh Hoa swept away thousands of hectares of land, causing landslides on the river banks, threatening to threaten many households; thunderstorms, lightning, tornadoes collapsed 20 houses, blew away the roofs of 195 houses, and killed one person in Ben Luc district.
Facing the above situation, Long An has urgently implemented measures to overcome and reconstruct after natural disasters in the direction of the Central Steering Committee.

At the meeting, General Director Tran Hong Thai acknowledged the opinions and recommendations of Long An to the Prime Minister, ministries and central branches. At the same time, he highly appreciated the active and proactive solutions of Long An province in natural disaster prevention and control, climate change response, and damage mitigation over the past time. Notably, the province has promptly consolidated the Steering Committee for flood and storm prevention and combat and search and rescue at all levels, improving the operation capacity of the members, promptly and effectively applying the motto "4 at site” in natural disaster response in according with the production reorganization and climate change adaptation.
