According to Mr. Pham Van Canh, the conference has practical significance for enterprises to have useful information for trade and investment cooperation with Singapore and Malaysia. He hoped that the Asia – Africa Market Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade would continue to support Long An enterprises in particular and Vietnamese enterprises in general to access foreign markets, bringing their goods to the world.
Attending the conference, participants were introduced to the basic information about the CPTPP; possibilities for cooperation, trade development and investment in Singapore and Malaysia markets.
At the conference
According to the representative of the Asia - Africa Market Department, Singapore is considered a tax haven with low or no tax for foreign income, inheritance and financial investment. Most of the goods are exempt from import tax except for 6 tariff lines related to wine and beer. Singaporean partners are interested in vegetables, cashews, confectionery, plastic, and wood products from Vietnam.
At the conference, Vietnam Trade Counselor in Malaysia also informed about the needs of this market. Malaysia is an industrialized country so agricultural products are in short supply. Therefore, the import demand for rice, seafood and vegetables is quite high.
Trade policies, import and export regulations, incentives under the CPTPP in Singapore and Malaysia, markets enterprise cooperation opportunities, solutions to bring Vietnamese goods into the distribution network of major supermarket chains in the 2 countries were discussed at the event. Accordingly, in these 2 markets, the business environment is very free but goods must be safe and traceable./.
