Actively supporting farmers in economic development
In the form of loan support, technical and vocational training, plants and seeds support, in recent times, the Farmers' Association at all levels has helped members and farmers expand their production and business scale, replicate effective economic development models, contributing to increasing income and escaping poverty
Determining that supporting farmers is a key task, the Provincial Farmers' Association has directed the Association at all levels to actively propagate and mobilize farmers to change the structure of crops and livestock in conjunction with implementing the general plans for socio-economic development of the province.
Along with that, the Provincial Farmers' Association has launched a movement in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty; promote propaganda, mobilization, and guidance for farmers to build agricultural economic models according to value chains, organic agricultural production, high-tech application, and cooperative economic models, etc; promote the application of science and technology in production, support capital for farmer in production and business; help farmer promote and consume products.

The Provincial Farmers' Association proactively coordinates with the local agricultural sector to advise and guide farmers to build organic and high-tech agricultural production models, greenhouse models, automatic irrigation systems to increase productivity and quality such as: safe vegetable growing models, mushroom growing model, livestock farming in the direction of biosafety, applying techniques for raising fish in cages on rivers, participating in the OCOP Program, etc.
According to the Provincial Farmers' Association, recently, the Association has coordinated with the local Agricultural Service Centers to organize many training courses to transfer science and technology to farmers on techniques for raising broiler chickens in the direction of biosafety, techniques for planting and caring for grafting fruit trees, growing mushrooms, safe vegetables, livestock farming and disease prevention and treatment techniques for pigs, buffaloes, cows, etc.
In order to build new rural areas, especially advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas, the Provincial Farmers' Association at all levels mobilized the Farmers' Association to participate in building rural infrastructure; participating in environmental protection and improving rural landscapes. Cadres and farmers contributed 779 billion VND and nearly 104,000 working days to build rural roads, repair irrigation canals, etc.

According to the Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association - Le Van Hung, in the past, the Association coordinated with the Social Policy Bank; the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development to support loans to more than 43,000 households, with an amount of more than 3,800 billion VND.
From the Farmers' Support Fund at all levels, the Association disbursed loans to 395 projects and 2,848 households with a total amount of more than 91.5 billion VND to develop production and business, increase income.
"In the coming time, the Association will continue to promote the movement of farmers competing in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably; propagating and mobilizing farmers to actively transform the structure of crops and livestock towards commodity production; applying new scientific and technical advances in production to effectively build economic development models; replicating high-tech agricultural production models, types of services; proactively coordinating to exploit resources to help farmers develop production and improve their lives" - Mr. Le Van Hung informed.
In 2024, the whole province has 86,112 households achieving good production and business at all levels (5,121 households at the provincial level, 18,096 households at the district level, 62,895 households at the commune level). The Provincial Farmers' Association coordinated with districts, towns and cities to organize 155 vocational training classes for rural workers, with 4,579 students participating. |
Connecting consumption of agricultural products
According to the Provincial Center for Industrial and Trade Promotion, since the beginning of 2024, the province has developed and implemented 28 trade promotion plans from the provincial budget. As a result, 330 enterprises, production establishments, cooperatives and business households have been supported to directly participate in domestic and foreign trade promotion events.

In addition, 44 businesses participated in 16 trade promotion events without using the state budget; more than 200 businesses participated in displaying products at events. The province also deployed for 2 points to introduce and sell OCOP products in Tan An City and Tan Thanh District; supported 70 establishments and businesses to post OCOP products, typical rural industrial products, regional specialties, etc on the provincial e-commerce platform; etc.
Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Chau Thi Le said that in 2024, the Department advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a Plan to implement the Border Trade Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia in the province; implemented the Vietnam - China Border Trade Agreement; advised the Provincial People's Committee on the content related to the import of rice from Cambodia through secondary border gates in the province; regularly coordinated with agencies under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Counselors, and Vietnam Trade Offices in border countries and localities to inform businesses about the market situation, policies, and laws of other countries, etc. In particular, the Department advised the Provincial People's Committee to successfully organize the Long An Export Promotion and Trade Connection Conference in 2024.
In addition, e-commerce activities have also been promoted through propaganda, supporting businesses and cooperatives to apply digital commerce.
Along with that, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with the E-commerce Development Center to maintain the software for tracing the origin of typical products of Long An province (https://truyxuatnguongoc.longan.gov.vn), deploying it for businesses, cooperatives, and related units to participate. Up to now, 23 enterprises have registered for 47 products, 3 production batches, with 6,401 product code scans. The Long An province e-commerce platform (http://longantrade.com/) has also been deployed to enterprises, cooperatives, and business establishments to participate in connecting with the Ministry of Industry and Trade's Unified E-commerce Platform (https://sanviet.vn/).
"In the coming time, the Department will continue to coordinate with departments, branches, social organizations and localities in promoting awareness and understanding of farmers about putting agricultural products on e-commerce platforms; strengthen training activities to improve knowledge for staff to support farmers in putting agricultural products on e-commerce platforms; promote propaganda and mobilize farmers to produce goods according to food safety and hygiene or GAP standards to meet market requirements" - Ms. Chau Thi Le added./.
In order to support farmers in consuming agricultural products, especially OCOP products, the Center coordinated with localities to build 2 points to introduce and sell OCOP products in Tan An city and Tan Thanh district with a budget of 450 million VND from the National Target Program on New Rural Development”.

The Farmers' Support Fund of Can Duoc district supported my family to borrow 50 million VND to invest in production development. I invested in seeds, irrigation systems, and fertilizers to grow vegetables such as cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, bitter melons, etc. On average, I produce 3-4 crops per year, with a profit of 40-70 million VND per crop.”
