The objective of the project is to raise awareness of officials, members of management board, business households and consumers in markets in the province to create a strong change in behavior, change awareness into specific actions and jobs in the work of environmental protection, make markets’ landscapes and business environment clean, beautiful and safe. It contributes to ensure environmental protection and food safety at the markets.
Besides, the project also helps management agencies and market management board to identify the management and technical solutions to be implemented, as well as arrange appropriate funding sources and apply the roadmap for implementing the solutions in a sustainable way; strengthen the coordination of state management agencies in the management, guidance and inspection of environmental protection actions at markets in the province. Since then, market model to ensure environmental sanitation is built feasibly and suitably to the provincial practical conditions, serving as a basis for effective propagation of environmental protection at traditional markets.
According to leaders of the DoIT, the province currently has many types of trade, in which modern trade channels such as supermarkets and trade centers meeting the criteria of environmental sanitation; the rest is mostly traditional markets, which has been formed for a long time so the infrastructure system has not met the current standards, the environmental protection has not been paid attention much.
The DoIT selected Bau Trai market, Duc Hoa district as a pilot model and organized to implement, completed by the end of December 2019. After that, the model will be replicated in many other markets in the future. Accordingly, Bau Trai market will be organized, planned, arranged into groups of stalls, encourages and creates conditions for shopkeepers to run empty booths; rearrange the stalls, make them clean and beautiful, ensure food safety and environmental sanitation in accordance with regulations and reduce pollution, protect the environment (areas selling fish, vegetables - tubers, food and drinks, dry goods, clothes, household appliances, cattle-poultry meat, etc.); establishing environmental management models and maintaining environmental protection in markets./.
