Ho Chi Minh City and Long An connect and cooperate for socio-economic development in the 2023 - 2025 period

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Council - Nguyen Van Duoc affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City and Long An are two bordering localities who have a close and meaningful relationship in many aspects. For the common development of the two regions and the whole country as well as improving the quality of people's lives, he hopes that leaders of departments and branches of the two localities to frankly acknowledge the difficulties and obstacles in the process of cooperate. Since then, the two localities can discuss solutions together, determine to solve problems, and agree to well implement the Cooperation Agreement signed with the highest spirit and responsibility.

On February 11, 2023, Ho Chi Minh City signed a socio-economic development cooperation agreement with provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta until 2025, including Long An. The key contents of cooperation include linking consumption of key agricultural products; linking transport infrastructure development; deploying the green environmental complex project. These are 3 important contents to create breakthroughs and open up room for development of the two localities in the coming time.

Recently, the two localities have paid attention to leading the implementation of the signed socio-economic development cooperation agreement. The contents of cooperation are carried out with focus and focus. In particular, the program to link the consumption of key agricultural products helps farmers in Long An province have a stable consumption market, increase their income, and improve their lives.

However, the implementation of the cooperation agreement still meets limitations such as the implementation of transport infrastructure development links between the two localities have not met development requirements; progress in implementing the green environmental complex project is still slow. The main reason is that the coordination between agencies of the two localities is sometimes and in some places not tight and drastic.

At the conference, departments and branches of Ho Chi Minh City and Long An province clearly stated difficult issues and problems, then recommended the leaders of the two localities to reach a consensus and propose practical solutions to better implement the cooperation agreement.
