Improve environmental protection's effectiveness and efficiency

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment  - Nguyen Tan Thuan, every year, the department carries out many environmental monitoring, inspection and supervision activities, equips chemical solid waste containers and carries out some environmental improvement projects  in Long An province. Activities to control and reduce environmental pollution in industrial parks have had many positive changes.

The installation of an automatic environmental monitoring system helps authorities conveniently and closely monitor, inspect, control waste sources of units and businesses operating in the area. From there, the functional sector has a plan and time to request operating units to organize installation according to regulations. Investors are advised to speed up the installation of automatic monitoring systems and transmit data directly to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for monitoring and supervision.

By the end of 2023, the whole province had 44 enterprises with large waste sources installing automatic monitoring stations for wastewater and emissions transmitted to the central station of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for monitoring and management.

In addition, the units have installed continuous monitoring stations for wastewater quality to control and gradually limit pollution and contribute to improving environment. The process of coordination in public service performance with all levels and sectors is strengthened and maintained regularly; supporting and removing difficulties and obstacles, creating conditions for businesses, thereby positively contributing to the province's socio-economic development process.

By the end of 2023, the whole province had 44 enterprises with large waste sources installing automatic monitoring stations for wastewater and emissions transmitted to the central station of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for monitoring and management with a frequency of every 5 minutes for monitoring and supervising the quality of wastewater and emissions discharged into the environment, promptly requesting enterprises to correct cases exceeding standards, etc.

On the other hand, the province has also invested in 6 monitoring stations in Duc Hoa, Ben Luc districts and Kien Tuong town. Automatic surface water and air monitoring stations are periodically maintained to ensure stable operation, thanks to which the Department of Natural Resources and Environment has collected and monitored environmental quality in places strongly affected by socio-economic development activities to serve as a basis for proposing measures to protect the quality of water resources in rivers, maintaining protection of surrounding air, etc.

The automatic monitoring system also helps businesses capture parameters and adjust appropriate standards according to regulations before discharging into the outside environment.

According to the representative of the Management Board of Long Hau Industrial Park (Industrial Park) (Can Giuoc district) - Bui Le Thanh Hieu, the industrial park always focuses on and strictly complies with the provisions of law on environmental protection during production and business activities. Long Hau Industrial Park prioritizes businesses with advanced and environmentally friendly technology in the process of attracting investment. Immediately after having the policy, the industrial park proactively organized the installation of an automatic wastewater monitoring system, connecting and transmitting data 24/7 to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for monitoring and supervision.

Similarly, representative of Hoa Binh Industrial Park Management Board (Thu Thua district) - Dang Trung Tin, said that the automatic monitoring station helps the unit capture parameters and adjust standards according to previous regulations before discharging into the outside environment. The industrial park complies with the policy and installs an automatic water monitoring system according to regulations, transmitting data 24/24 hours to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for inspection and supervision. In addition, legal regulations in the field of environmental protection are always strictly and fully implemented.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Thuan informed: "Environmental protection work is closely directed and paid attention to, and there have been positive changes recently on a number of criterias such as investigation and identification of waste sources; inspecting and strictly handling cases of violation of environmental protection laws; investing in environmental monitoring and technical infrastructure; propaganda to raise awareness about environmental protection; etc."

The automatic and continuous monitoring station system brings practical results, effectively contributing to improving environmental protection work in the province. The Department has issued a document requesting investors in industrial parks and clusters and businesses operating in the area to implement and focus on inspection and urging to complete the installation of automatic wastewater monitoring systems according to the proposed plan. At the same time, the Department advised and proposed a number of new locations to install automatic air and surface water monitoring stations./.
